Roxtar Glass Art by Vanja Venrooy

Roxtar Glass Art by Vanja Venrooy Roxtar Glass Art is the home studio of artist Vanja Venrooy, where you can learn to make your own beautiful fused glass art piece in a single session.

Roxtar Glass Art is a home-based studio, owned by me - Vanja Venrooy. I just LOVE glass and the magic of what happens to it in the kiln. I work at creating beautiful, colourful pieces of wall art, table art, vases, jewellery and more. I love trying new techniques, and putting my own spin on it. To share my passion for glass, I offer glass craft workshops, where you can come and make your own original creation in just a couple of hours, with no experience required.

Hi my lovely Glassy friends
We are about to head home from our epic 6-week South American adventures.
Here’s a look at my camera roll with almost 5,000 photos & 1,800 videos 😅
An absolute trip of a lifetime, with our top 3 highlights being the wildlife in Antartica, snorkelling in Galapagos & visiting Rainbow Mountain in Peru.
I’ll be ready to run glass fusing workshops again from April onwards, so please just message me if you’d like to book in a date.

This exhibition runs from this Saturday 27th through to Sunday 19th October, so there’s plenty of time to check it out.

I'm so excited about my upcoming joint exhibition with these three amazing artists.
A big Thank You to Tricia Hewlett Art for the idea and for inviting me to join her, Nikki (Absconditus Creations) & Mandy Palmer Artist

Our exhibition is called ‘MeNToR’
Mandy, Nikki, Tricia, Roxtar = MeNToR
We are four artists passionate about Artists Supporting Artists.
We all mentor other artists, and this is a chance for us to support each other by celebrating our art together.

We met each other through Arts Canterbury - an organisation of Artists supporting artists.
Mandy is the chair of Arts Canterbury, runs the Kaiapoi Art Expo, and supports many emerging artists.
Nikki is the administrator for Arts Canterbury, working tirelessly to provide all the behind-the-scenes work to run exhibitions, workshops, and social events for our artist members.
Vanja introduces people to the joy of glass fusion art at her studio in Halswell, as well as demonstrating and talking to many organisations throughout Canterbury. She is a past chair of Arts Canterbury.
Tricia is the art teacher at Akaroa Area School, the coordinator of the Wildside Art Group, supports creatives in the community, and supports Arts Canterbury members.

Each of us mentors the arts in our communities, mentors emerging artists, and supports each other in our art and mentoring endeavors.

The exhibition runs from Saturday 27th September - Sunday 19th October excluding Mondays.
Opening night this Friday 26th September.

Here’s my “Little Monuments” collection, making use of the scrap float glass I use to teach my workshop students glass-cutting techniques.
Fused float glass squares, uv-glued mirror base with glass nugget feet, and tidied up with a copper foil edging.

Please just message me if you’d like to buy one (only 2 left), or if you’d like to book in for a fused glass workshop.

Just to show you that not all of my pieces come out of the kiln as I’d hoped 😅
These are all draped lattice vessels that I had fired incorrectly. This is just a part of the hidden cost of learning glass fusion 😬

Today (Sunday) is the last day of the Arts Canterbury Art Show at the Cashmere Club. Open until 4pm today.
