The penguin jumper … it’s not a jumper for penguins but a very cute, easy knit jersey for your 3-24m old. Pattern 103 requires 2-4 balls of merino wool 8 ply dk. We’ve used charcoal as the main colour, natural white for the front and saffron for the beak and feet. (p.s you may be interested to know that penguins sometimes actually do wear jumpers during some specialist vet care. Natural wool keeps the penguin warm if its feathers are damaged and draws toxins away from their skin. Just another example of how wool is wonderful

The folded over neckband. It fixes that wavy, stretched out look that can sometimes occur with hand knits. There are many methods. The easiest is just to knit a neckband twice and a smidge longer than you want, fold it inwards and stitch down along the pickup seam. Just ensure you cast off in a larger size needle
