Kindly Candles Handcrafted soy candles made in small batches for the ordinary human. Hi, I’m Marisa. I'm a California native who moved to Dunedin, New Zealand in April 2021.

Before New Zealand, I lived in Melbourne, Australia for 5 years. I started learning about candle making in July 2021. Since then, I've tested scents, wax and jars and realised I had enough experience to begin sharing with others - Kindly Candles was born in March 2022. I'm inspired by the awe of nature and the reminiscence of places lived and travelled. I'm lucky to call New Zealand home, and hope to reflect this in scents to come. x Marisa

I have been looking forward to visiting the thetotarastore for some time now and we popped in on Sunday.
Kate and the team have been stocking our candles since the beginning of the year and it was so awesome seeing them on the shelves!

Right from a wee girl, I spent heaps of my time at the racetrack with Dad. Scraping mud off the front of the car and underneath the wheel guards, marching around the pits with the other kids whose parents were also racing and making lifelong memories.

Dad has a pretty special car, with a lot of history in the New Zealand and Australian race scene.
This year, the car is heading over the ditch to Bathurst where my husband (who you have seen featured on here and is also a mechanic) will be crewing alongside my Dad.

Kindly candles have a special place on the car for this momentous trip!
