I’ve decided it’s time to take LMC Cake Design to the another level 🤍
I’ve actually been making cakes for about 27 years, which seems slightly crazy when I say that out loud.
I’m pretty sure my first proper cake was a Nemo cake for my stepdaughter when she was little. Then came years of birthday cakes for my boys, cakes for family and friends, and somewhere along the way it grew into people actually asking me to make cakes for them.
I’ve never had any formal training. I’ve learnt by doing, cake after cake, figuring things out, trying new things and naturally building my skills over the years. And I’ve always had my incredibly talented Mum in my corner, who still gets the photo when I’m staring at a cake wondering if something doesn’t look quite right.
The funny thing is, I’ve never really thought of what I do as a skill.
I’m exceptionally good at saying, “Oh, it’s not that good” or “Anyone could do that.”
But every now and then I finish a cake, step back and think… s**t, I actually did that.
It’s taken me a long time to actually acknowledge that I might be ok at this.
Now my Boys are grown, and don’t really like cake! Maybe they are fatigued by all the leftovers! I miss making cakes for them x
So now I feel like it’s time to see what I can really do with something I’ve loved creating for all these years.
I want to refine the skills I already have, learn new ones, challenge myself creatively and take my cakes to another level, and most of all, start creating them for more people.
So LMC Cake Design is getting a little refresh. Same name, still me, just with a bit more intention behind where I want to take it.
And I have something new coming too… mini cakes 🤍
Little cakes for those moments when you don’t need a full celebration cake but still want something special, birthdays, workmates, thank yous, little celebrations, gifts… or just because.
I’m hoping to have the first one ready to share very soon.
After 27 years, I think it’s probably time I backed myself.
So… here we go.
