Ever feel pulled in 300 directions? Everyone in the household wants something from you and you can barely catch a breath for yourself?
That’s how it was in our house this morning, complete chaos, but then one of the kids pointed out a wood pigeon in the tree.
Taking a tiny moment to step outside and have a closer look felt so good.
It gave me a much needed reminder, that sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses.

Current works in progress… this is probably the least amount of projects I’ve ever had on the go at once and two of them have been in progress for at least 2 years!!!🤦‍♀️
How slack is that?
Might have to remedy that I think.

I used to think sourdough had to be complicated, strict, and timed perfectly.

Now I make it in a very simple, real-life way — even on busy days when I’m out all day.

I finally wrote the whole process down step-by-step on my blog, so I don’t have to keep explaining it each time.

If you’ve ever found sourdough confusing or overwhelming, this might help simplify it.

It’s funny looking thinking about it now

At the time I felt a quite embarrassed watching my kids set up random little stalls outside our house

But no I realize that those moments taught them skills that they're needing more these days.

Now, with everything costing more, I’m grateful they’ve grown up knowing how to make things and learn practical skills that they can use to earn in simple ways.

From baking… to sheep manure… to a lawn mowing business.

I’ve shared our story in a blog if you want to read it 🤍

Sewing while the Tuis and fantails sing in the background. Can't get a much better sound track than that!

I've been adding a few more kiwiana inspired dresses to my website. Check out the link in my bio.

Sundays Activities
Soap making (…which nearly broke me 😅), a big bunch of calendula drying on the bench, jars and jars of rendered tallow, and some meal prep for my anti-inflammatory reset.

The first time I made soap it went smoothly — I had a friend guiding me and it worked perfectly. This time it had me questioning all my life choices 😂 It curdled, it looked wrong, it refused to trace… I was tempted to quit the whole low tox life situation, get a job somewhere and just buy everything. But with a lot of troubleshooting (thank you, ChatGPT 😁) it finally did what it was supposed to do.

It made me think
We often put things off because they seem “too hard.”
Sourdough felt too hard.
Pressure canning felt too hard.
Soap felt too hard.
Anything with complicated instructions can scare you off before you even start.

But sometimes I think we overthink things...
You learn as you go.
You make mistakes.
But it usually works out in the end and you can onlygrow in confidence by actually doing the thing.

So if there’s something you’ve been wanting to try… don’t overthink it, just give it ago.

What's something you'd love to give a go but have been putting off because it seems too hard?
