NGĀ MIHI NUI

What a weekend. Thank you to everyone who came along and picked up a kuku for the first time, sat with us all day, and left with a mau kaki they wove themselves.

Huge thanks to our kaiako Zemara Te Haeata and Jayden Purcell for guiding everyone through it with so much patience, and to Peachgrove Intermediate for hosting us. Big shout out to Mum for her catering too 😍

This is just the beginning, we are heading to Rotorua and Taupō next 📌

And we are looking at putting together part two following on from Raranga Hou.

Follow along for dates!

Special thanks to Hamilton City Council 🔥

MEET THE KAIAKO — JAYDEN 💫

Jayden brings his creativity, innovation and hands-on making skills to this beginner-friendly wānanga.

As kaiako, he supports participants through the practical side of raranga — helping everyone get comfortable with kuku and haehae as they build their own mau kaki, using tools he designed himself to be accessible for different hands and abilities.

Jayden's practical, approachable style makes it easy for beginners to jump in, try things out, and feel confident from the very first moment.

Join Zemara and Jayden for our Raranga Hou Wānanga in Kirikiriroa on Saturday 15 August.

Milestone moment 👨🏾‍🎓 🎓

Completed my whakairo (carving) studies with Te Wananga o Aotearoa and graduating this Thursday.

Snippets of my final submission piece inspired by my Nan.

Whakairo (traditional carving) is now part of my practice and being shared into my pakihi (my business).

Ngā mihi to those who guided me and for those who were on the journey.
