If you've spent any time in the workshop or caught a few social posts, you've seen the old signs hanging around — leftovers from a couple of business lives before this one.
Remarkable Upholstery came first. Bevan started in 2003 in the corner of a shared Queenstown workshop, named after the Remarkables right there on the doorstep.
Upholstery Alley followed in 2011, also in Queenstown before moving to Wanaka, built around classic car and vintage restorations — the name borrowed from the "Gasoline Alley" pit stops of the motorsport world. It even had its own painted road marking at the entrance to the Gordon Road workshop, running all the way through to the back where the cars came in.
For a while we sponsored a local Queenstown ice hockey team too, the Upholstery Alley Gators, with official branded jerseys straight from the USA.
Two names, one genuinely confused sign collection, a lot of history for one small business.
We rebranded to Wanaka Upholstery in 2015. The signs never left.
