We’re back open in Kaitaia — in our new home at 85 North Road, right next door to McDonald’s.

After the terrible floods went through our old store in March, we’ve relocated, refreshed the shop and opened the doors again.

You’ll find the same great range of appliances, now displayed in a fresh new way — plus Bedpost, with the largest range of beds in Kaitaia.

From flood to fresh start — welcome to the new Folders & Bedpost!

It’s been quite a journey since the flood, but we’re excited to say the outside of our new store is now complete — and we think it’s looking pretty sharp.

While the flood was certainly not something we would ever have wished for, it did give us the chance to stop, rethink, and rebuild Folders in a way that works even better for our local customers.

The result? A smarter, fresher, easier-to-shop store right here in Kaitaia.

We’ve brought Bedpost to town, giving locals access to a specialist bed retailer with a great range of trusted bed brands — all without having to leave the Far North.

And believe it or not, we’ve managed to fit around the same number of appliances into a store close to one third the size of our old building. The difference is they’re now displayed better, easier to compare, and backed by electronically controlled pricing to help make sure you get sharp, up-to-date prices.

So whether you’re after appliances, electronics, bedding, or just good local advice from people who know the products, we’d love to see you.

Absolutely blown away.

After our post about the free fixtures and fittings at the old Folders store on North Park Drive, our community well and truly turned up. As you can see, the building is now almost empty — which is exactly what we needed to make way for the builders and the much-needed repair work ahead.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, brought a ute or trailer, lent a hand, and helped clear the last remnants of the old store.

We really hope the kitchen units, desks, tables, chairs and other bits and pieces find a useful second life in homes, sheds, workshops, rentals, community spaces or wherever they’ve ended up. After everything that has happened, it’s nice to know they may still be helping people rather than heading straight to waste.

From all of us at Folders, thank you. Your support has made a difficult clean-out that much easier — and once again reminded us how good this community is.

FREE fixtures and fittings — must go!

We’re finally clearing out what’s left at the old Folders store on North Park Drive, and there are lots of fixtures and fittings free to a good home.

Come down tomorrow from 10am–2pm. We’ll also open Sunday 10am–2pm if there’s anything left.

There are kitchen units, desks, a few chairs, a couple of large tables that seat eight, and more. Many of the kitchens can be broken into components — or with a bit of DIY magic, turned into a new kitchen.

Bring a ute, trailer, muscles, and a plan.

First in, first served. All welcome from 10am tomorrow. Once it’s gone, it’s gone!

It’s time. We’re opening the doors again.

You’ll now find us at 85 North Road, Kaitaia — between McDonald’s and Bells Produce. Nice and easy to find, especially if you’re already in the burger queue.

After being closed since 26 March due to flood damage, tomorrow is a big day for all of us at Folders.

The damage was huge, with more than 14,000 product lines affected and well over $1 million in cost. It’s been a tough road, and we know many of you have been asking the same question for weeks now: when are you opening?

We’ve been feeling that frustration too.

While we worked through the flood damage, we didn’t sit still. We secured a new, smaller building and got stuck into the massive job of bringing Folders back to life. There has been a huge amount of work behind the scenes, and while there is still plenty to do, we’ve made the call:

Folders will reopen at tomorrow 9am Tuesday 16 June.

We’re not quite finished. We’re still waiting on more new stock to arrive, and some exciting new technology is currently stuck in customs, but we’ve decided it’s time to pull the pin and get the doors open.

To our loyal customers who have waited patiently, checked in on us, and kept asking when we’d be back — thank you. We genuinely appreciate your support.

This soft reopening is just the start. There is a lot more to come, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you back.

Big day for Folders - our new logo is officially up on our new building 💚

Same Folders. Fresh new look.

As we step into this next chapter, we wanted a logo that feels more like who we are today - modern, confident, and ready for where we’re headed - while still keeping the local heart that’s always mattered most.

Our new line, “We’ve got it!”, is simple, but it says a lot.
A great range. Helpful service. Real people. Right here in Kaitaia.

While the new building is a bit smaller its a big step forward for us. It’s really about making things smarter and better for you - our customers, our community, and the people who’ve backed Folders over the years.

Say hello to Folders & Bedpost.

We’re proud to share that Bedpost is coming to Kaitaia, inside the new Folders store - bringing a specialist bed retailer right here to the Far North.

For us, this is about more than just a new sign on the building. It’s about not giving up, backing Kaitaia, investing in our town, and giving local families access to the kind of quality products and specialist advice that usually means a trip out of town.

We’ve hand picked a great range of trusted bedding brands including Sealy Posturepedic, SleepMaker, Tempur, Design Mobel, and Bedgear - so our customers can find proper sleep solutions locally, with real help from people who live and work here too.

Kaitaia deserves great stores, great service, and great choices - and we’re excited to be building out of tragedy something our community can be proud of.

Seeing the Folders & Bedpost sign go up makes it all feel very real now.

Not too many more sleeps until we open the doors… and yes, that line was unavoidable.
