Folders Folders is an independent retailer ranging home appliances, furniture, beds, electronics and music At Folders we continually expose that myth. It's in our DNA.

Many people falsely believe that the big corporate retailer will give you a better deal. Our range is massive and growing daily, and our prices are competitive if not often better. Plus, we give the service only independent local retailers can but these days, with the massive growth we have experienced online, we do it nationwide. We actually have real people at the other end of the phone 0800 156 678. Not some call centre, or people who can't make a decision or give you the information you need. As a rural retailer we need customers for life because prior to going online there was not many to choose from in a small rural town. And, if we do something wrong everyone knows by lunchtime! So real customer service is what we do! Every reasonable request will be always answered with a "YES".

📣 Some exciting news from Folders

We are proud to announce that our family-owned Kaitaia business has acquired the Bedpost stores in Kerikeri and Whangārei.

Folders began in Kaitaia, and Kaitaia will remain the home of our business and nationwide online operation. Following the devastating flood that forced our former store to close, we had to reconsider how we could build a stronger and more resilient future.

We chose to keep investing - not only in Kaitaia, but across Northland.

With locations now in Kaitaia, Kerikeri and Whangārei, we have an exciting opportunity to provide Northlanders with greater choice, more convenient ways to shop and improved regional delivery services.

Over the coming months, we will be upgrading the Kerikeri and Whangārei stores, introducing new furniture ranges and developing plans for Folders Appliance Click & Collect points at both locations.

There is plenty of work ahead and much more news to come. For now, Anne and Ian would like to thank our customers, staff and suppliers for supporting the family business that began here in Kaitaia.

Born in Kaitaia. Growing across Northland.

“Think Folders is just a Kaitaia store? Think again.”

In fact, more than 50% of our sales are now shipped to customers right across New Zealand.

From our team here in Kaitaia, orders are picked, packed and sent all over the country every day. Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, small towns, rural addresses — the lot.

We like to think of it as exporting a bit of our localness nationwide.

Same straight-up service. Same fair pricing. Same real people behind the business. Just reaching a lot further than State Highway 1 these days.

So whether you’re just down the road or at the other end of the country, when you shop with Folders, you’re still shopping with a Kiwi family business from the Far North.

Local at heart. Nationwide online. 🇳🇿

We’re back open in Kaitaia — in our new home at 85 North Road, right next door to McDonald’s.

After the terrible floods went through our old store in March, we’ve relocated, refreshed the shop and opened the doors again.

You’ll find the same great range of appliances, now displayed in a fresh new way — plus Bedpost, with the largest range of beds in Kaitaia.

If you haven’t popped in for a look yet, come on down to 85 North Road and see the new store for yourself. We’d love to see you.

Our prices now keep up with the market - 'automatically'.

We’ve installed electronic price ticketing throughout the Folders store, allowing us to update prices quickly and accurately.

We monitor leading retailers across New Zealand and regularly adjust our pricing to make sure our customers receive best value - whether shopping with us in-store or online.

That means no outdated shelf tickets and no waiting for a sale. Just best pricing, backed by real local service from people you know and trust.

Another reason shopping local at Folders makes sense.

From flood to fresh start — welcome to the new Folders & Bedpost!

It’s been quite a journey since the flood, but we’re excited to say the outside of our new store is now complete — and we think it’s looking pretty sharp.

While the flood was certainly not something we would ever have wished for, it did give us the chance to stop, rethink, and rebuild Folders in a way that works even better for our local customers.

The result? A smarter, fresher, easier-to-shop store right here in Kaitaia.

We’ve brought Bedpost to town, giving locals access to a specialist bed retailer with a great range of trusted bed brands — all without having to leave the Far North.

And believe it or not, we’ve managed to fit around the same number of appliances into a store close to one third the size of our old building. The difference is they’re now displayed better, easier to compare, and backed by electronically controlled pricing to help make sure you get sharp, up-to-date prices.

So whether you’re after appliances, electronics, bedding, or just good local advice from people who know the products, we’d love to see you.

Come in and have a look around the new Folders & Bedpost.

New store. Better layout. Great brands. Local service.

Absolutely blown away.

After our post about the free fixtures and fittings at the old Folders store on North Park Drive, our community well and truly turned up. As you can see, the building is now almost empty — which is exactly what we needed to make way for the builders and the much-needed repair work ahead.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, brought a ute or trailer, lent a hand, and helped clear the last remnants of the old store.

We really hope the kitchen units, desks, tables, chairs and other bits and pieces find a useful second life in homes, sheds, workshops, rentals, community spaces or wherever they’ve ended up. After everything that has happened, it’s nice to know they may still be helping people rather than heading straight to waste.

From all of us at Folders, thank you. Your support has made a difficult clean-out that much easier — and once again reminded us how good this community is.
