🌸 100 Vases: More Than Just a Vessel 🌸

We are looking forward to this stunning exhibition that celebrates the humble vase in all its glory!

From a single, treasured bloom to a dining table centrepiece, a vase is a silent witness to our lives—holding space for congratulations, apologies, and quiet remembrance.

This October, we're showcasing how Aotearoa's most talented local potters (along with our incredible guest potter, Duncan Shearer) interpret this iconic shape.

Artists Spotlight ✨

Sas Pearce is a multidisciplinary artist whose tactile, nature-rooted practice spans ceramics, textiles, and printmaking. Working with clay, natural fibres, and plant-based dyes, she creates one-of-a-kind pieces that explore texture, memory, and the quiet stories found in nature.

Her work is deeply influenced by cultural exchange, traditional craft techniques, and her ongoing dialogue with the landscape around her. Sas’ thoughtfully transformed home studio in Tahawai is a warm, inviting space that offers visitors a chance to connect with both the artist and her process. From hand-built ceramics to wild-fibre weavings, the studio celebrates mindful making and creative exploration.

This year, the studio will also host the captivating outdoor sculptures of Sue Stowell, creating a unique dialogue between natural fibres, clay, and metal.

🎨 BOP Open Studios is free for the public to attend, simply visit your favourite studios and enjoy meeting our incredible artists.
