The Whetū Mārama is the sacred symbol of Te Hāhi Rātana, representing Māramatanga—enlightenment, faith, hope, and light.

The colours of the Whetū represent:

* 🔵 Blue – Te Matua (God the Father)
* ⚪ White – Te Tama (Jesus Christ, the Son)
* 🔴 Red – Te Wairua Tapu (The Holy Spirit)
* 🟣 Purple – Ngā Anahera Pono (The Faithful Angels)
* 🟡 Yellow/Gold – Te Māngai (The Mouthpiece/Prophet, Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana).

🌿On the reverse of this taonga, kōwhai flowers have been added as a uniquely Aotearoa touch. Kōwhai symbolise hope, renewal, growth, and new beginnings, reflecting the promise of new life and the continual journey of faith. As one of Aotearoa’s most cherished native trees, the kōwhai also represents a deep connection to the whenua and to our people.
