Here she is, Henrietta hen, my version of Harnie the Hen from Inspirations #129.
I used 3 shades of Essex linen embroidered with DMC Eco Vita wool thread in toning colours. The embroidered lines on her body use different stitches from the pattern but the wings and breast are the same.
I added a seam allowance to all the pattern pieces, and changed the shape of her head, beak and wattle. Stuffed with rice (in a bag) for weight and padded with poly fill. Quite a bit of ‘fowl’ language ensued when I couldn’t fit the bag of rice inside her cavity without undoing the back seam. Seams were partly sewn by machine and some by hand with ladder stitch over pre-turned seam allowances.
I’m pleased with how she turned out but won’t be rushing to make another!

My headless chook! I’m working on my version of Harnie the Hen from Inspirations #129. Using Essex linen instead of felt and changing up the colours of the wool embroidery. Will post a photo when finished.
