I’ve been away for a few days - visiting my sister in Auckland and enjoying some galleries and catch up with friends. Home now though and just unloaded the kiln this morning from my bisque firing. We’ve currently got an ongoing power outage out here, which started last night so it’s pretty chilly and also quite dark in the studio. Waiting for the power to come back so I can get back on the wheel 🥰 itching to get my hands muddy again 😂 also on a side note one of my amazing recent workshop participants made the most incredible birds nest with eggs and also some birds feet! They make me smile every time I see them and I’m so excited to finally glaze them soon! Wish I was that creative 🥰🙏

I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing exhibition at Silo 6, alongside some other incredible artists. The space is stunning with the dappled light and sound, and I loved seeing the aftermath of the splattered vases from the opening night performance. Beautiful exhibition Thomas, you should be so proud. I’m so pleased I just happened to be in Auckland while this was on. If any Aucklanders have some time it’s worth a visit!

This batch of hug mugs were thrown at Sunrise on a beautiful sunny Nelson crisp Autumn morning, I was listening to some relaxing morning jazz music and enjoying the way the light shines on the Richmond ranges while I made them on the wheel. They were carved this afternoon in the late afternoon sun while I enjoyed the fresh air and the doggies played in the garden outside. That’s Karmas cute face poking out from under my desk. These are actually my most beautiful hug forms I’ve ever managed to throw on the wheel… which is a very exciting development since it’s been three years since I last made anything. I hope you’ll love them… they’ll be ready soon 🥰

A quiet space where everything begins again. We’ve had several days of relentless wind on the mountain, and the view from my studio has been moody and grey, which I absoloutley adore. Today though the wind finally stopped and the sun came out which is a welcome change.
