A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last week to celebrate the opening of Unravelling the Saree: Beyond the Fold 💛

It was wonderful to see so many people come together to mark the opening of this special community-led exhibition, and to celebrate the people who generously shared their sarees, stories and experiences to help bring it to life.

Featuring sarees from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, alongside photographs, films and personal stories, Unravelling the Saree explores the saree as a living garment and an expression of culture, identity, resistance and creativity.

The exhibition is now open and on display until 15 November.

Kia ora koutou and don’t we have an amazing line up for the ‘Where Conversations speak and music flows’ for you!!!!!!

For those who don’t know the kaupapa. 4 artists meet each other for a chat and each one offers a starting piece for the others to improvise to. The audience (‘flies on the wall’) have described the event as a true privilege “like sitting around the fire or a living room listening in on a conversation and jam”.

Introducing Lia Arorangi Harvey who enjoys composing and producing film, documentary and Taonga Pūoro.
