Monday Mentions: Natureland 🐒

Today’s Monday Mention has to be Natureland Zoo. I popped in today and it was lovely to see some of the changes since my last visit.

The new capuchin monkey enclosure looks great. It was a rather windy day, so they were mostly sheltering inside, but they kept popping their heads out of the windows to say hello! 🐒 I also loved seeing the iguana in his enclosure, happily nibbling away at some grass. 🦎

It’s clear there is a huge amount of care and hard work happening behind the scenes at Natureland. The animals are happy and well cared for, and it’s wonderful to see the work they do supporting conservation and caring for these animals.

And you don’t have to have kids to enjoy it! It’s such a lovely little spot to spend an hour or so, slow down, immerse yourself in nature and simply watch the animals.

So, if you haven’t been for a while, why not pop in and see what’s happening? By visiting and supporting this local treasure, you’re also helping support the important conservation work they do. 💚

💚Monday Mentions
This week's shout-out is a little bit different...

Usually, I use these posts to shine a light on a local business or someone doing something wonderful in our community.

But this week, I'm going to give myself a little shout-out! 😄

If you know me through the Pretty Crafty Market, you might not know that I also run another market, and it's happening this Sunday.

♻️ The Upcycled Market is all about celebrating second chances. Giving discarded, unwanted and forgotten materials a new life, and celebrating the incredibly creative people who can see the potential in things that others might overlook.

We've got a wonderful bunch of makers and creatives joining us, all with their own unique take on upcycling, reuse and sustainability. There'll be furniture, homewares, fashion, art, vintage finds and plenty of clever and creative things you probably won't find anywhere else.

🌿 Monday Mention 🌿

This week I want to introduce you to, Jasmine, a naturopathic nutritionist and health coach here in Nelson.

I had a session with Jasmine recently, and her advice proved incredibly beneficial for me. I actually realised afterwards that I had been struggling with perimenopausal symptoms more than I had appreciated, and having someone look at things from a nutritional and women’s health perspective was really helpful.

Jasmine specialises in women’s health in midlife, particularly supporting women through perimenopause, and her approach is all about making simple, manageable changes without feeling overwhelmed.

I really appreciated how knowledgeable and practical she was, and I came away with a much better understanding of what was going on and some things I could actually do about it.

🌸Monday Mentions: Tahunanui Pharmacy 🌸

This week’s Monday Mention goes to the lovely team at Tahunanui Pharmacy.

I really appreciate the personal service I always get there. I popped in recently and had a really helpful chat with the pharmacist, who took the time to listen, gave me some excellent advice and pointed me towards some really interesting information. I was genuinely grateful, and it made a real difference.

Yes, I know there are pharmacies offering free prescriptions these days, and that's a fantastic option when you're watching the pennies. But sometimes you really can't beat good old-fashioned personal service. The $5 spent on my prescription felt like a very worthwhile investment when it came with such thoughtful advice and care. ❤️

So this is just a little reminder to support our local pharmacies where you can. Mix it up, use the free options when they suit you, but when you have the opportunity, supporting a local business makes a difference.

And don't forget to have a peek at the gift sections in your local pharmacies too. Lots of them stock lovely local products and handmade goodies, so it's another great way to support local. 💚

✨ Monday Mentions ✨

This week we'd love to shine a light on one of our long-standing Pretty Crafty Market family members, Rachel from Rose & Luna.

If you've visited our market over the years, there's a good chance you've admired Rachel's beautiful beads and jewellery, or had a chat with her about one of her many creative projects. Sadly, she's currently recovering from a broken leg, so we thought now would be the perfect time to send her a little extra love.

Rachel's kindness extends far beyond her lovely shop. She is also the founder of the The Sparkle Project, a wonderful initiative that gives unwanted beads and broken jewellery a new lease of life. Donated pieces are carefully taken apart, transformed into something new, and shared with charities, community groups and people who could do with a little extra sparkle, both here in New Zealand and even overseas.

Wishing you a smooth recovery, Rachel. We can't wait to see you back doing what you love soon. 💜

Firstly, apologies for the radio silence over the past few weeks. I've been lucky enough to be spending some quality time overseas with family and friends, but now I'm back and excited to get planning our next market!

We already have some wonderful returning vendors booked in, but we'd love to welcome some new faces too.
