A couple of classes coming up - Scraptastic Quilts Sunday 15 February 9:30am - 4pm $40, I will show several techniques on how to use up your patchwork fabric scraps and make small quilts, wallhangings, bags etc. See photos below. Then Thread Sketching on Sunday 8 March 9:30 am - 4pm $40 where I will show how you can add to your freemotion stitching skills. I am going to be teaching an Inktense Drawing on Fabric class on Sunday 10th November 10am - 4pm $40. Learn how you can use Derwent Inktense pencils and/or blocks on fabric. These are highly pigmented pencils and blocks that can be used on fabric, once you add liquid they act like a watercolour and become much more intense in colour. I love them and they are easy to use when you know a few tricks. If you con't own any of these yet you can use mine for a $5 materials fee and see how they work. Contact me (PM) and I'll send you the class info. Would love to see you here and show you some fun drawing and quilting these designs on fabric.

On Sunday 6th October at Quilt Symposium in Cambridge I am teaching the Orange Peel block and lots of ways to make it. This is a technique class where I show you 5 different ways to make your block and lots of layouts for the blocks into a quilt. You can make miniatures or larger sized quilts. Here are 2 that are small, the bright is approx 12"x 18"and the blue/green is 12"square. Easily done in a day. And I will also show you how to use fancy stitches to embellish your appliques, don't they look fun?

These are the kind of thing you can create in my class Making Your Mark On Fabric , and there are a few spaces left if you want to try out some designs of your own. Everything I use is readily available around your house, just get some fabric and textile paint and you can create all sorts of designs.

I have just made another sample for the Negative Painting on Fabric class on Saturday 5th October in Cambridge at Quilt Symposium 2024. I chose a lovely piece of batik and quilted feathers on it and then painted the background to create to look of applique without appliqueing. It is a wholecloth piece of work. If you are tempted to try something different then book in and come along to try your hand at something a little unusual. Showcase one piece of fabric, some quilting and some paint.
