The best projects we’ve ever worked on have nothing to do with budget.

They have everything to do with relationship.

Interior design is a long, intimate process. You’re making big decisions, spending real money, and letting someone into your home and your life for months or years. That only works well when there’s genuine connection on both sides.

The clients we do our best work for are the ones we actually gel with. Who are honest from day one about what they want and what they don’t. Who trust us. Who see it as a collaboration and an opportunity , not a transaction.

When we’re walking through all those site meetings, when we’re putting the moodboards together, when we draw the 3d models - this is what we are seeing. The end. We are always dreaming of the big picture, of the finished home, of the family around the dinner table and the morning coffees. We are already styling your home and creating those wow moments in our head that you will love living with everyday 🥰

If you’ve ever stood in a kitchen showroom feeling completely lost, this is why. There are over 20 design decisions in this one photo alone. Having someone to guide you through every single one of them changes everything 🤗

A good friend said to me recently that she’s thinking about moving house.

Not because it’s too small. Not because the location is wrong. Because she just doesn’t feel good in it. The light is bad. She has to turn lights on in the middle of the day. She hates having people over because she’s low key embarrassed by it. She just doesn’t feel like herself there.

To me it’s the place where we’ve had our deepest conversations and our best belly laughs. But every day she’s living with the things that are not working. The dark hallway. The awkward layout. The rooms that never quite feel right no matter what she does to them.

And she’s not being precious. She’s not being dramatic. What she’s describing is real. Our homes affect us in ways we often can’t even articulate. We just know something feels off. We just know we’re not quite right in the space.

The decisions made at the very start of a design or build are the ones you live with for ten, twenty, thirty years. They’re not the glamorous decisions. But they’re the ones that determine whether your home genuinely supports you or whether you spend years working around it. Getting those decisions right at the beginning is everything.

This is what the Home Well series has been about. The idea that your home should be actively making your life better. That you deserve to feel good where you live. Not just okay, not just used to it. Actually good 😊

Part two starts soon and we’re going room by room. If any of this has landed for you, if you’ve got your own version of my friend’s story, come and tell me. I’d really love to hear it.

May was a lot.

TIDA Kitchens 2026 winner. Still a bit surreal, honestly!

Beyond that it’s been full-on in the best way. Site visits, kitchens going in, bathrooms taking shape, an office fit-out sneaking into the mix. The kind of busy where you look up and a month has disappeared.

In between all of it, school balls (how are these girls almost adults), a little escape to Waikato, hot pools between site visits, and blue skies on repeat.

Autumn is such a beautiful season. May delivered! Here’s to June. 🍂

There’s a reason some homes feel easy to live in and others feel quietly exhausting.

It’s not the size. It’s not the furniture. It’s how the space flows.

The kitchen that makes you walk in circles. The living room with an awkward spot for the TV. The bedroom that’s just another room.

Most people blame themselves. Think they need to declutter more. Be more organised.

Sometimes it’s the layout.

A well-designed home supports your morning routine, your after-school chaos, your evening wind-down. You don’t notice it when it’s working. You just feel less frantic.

That’s what good spatial planning does. And it’s why your project works best when you have the right designer involved from day one.

Kind words from a lovely client always brighten our day. Isn’t it great when you feel understood, when you feel seen and heard, and when nothings a bother. That’s how we like to work and how we like our clients to feel 🥰

This room was finished in Summer but is really coming to its own just in time for the cooler months. Luxurious fabrics, archival patterns, layered textures all come together to create the perfect sanctuary. The ultimate place to rest, recuperate and recharge 😴
