We love how this Wellington apartment has come together.

The bespoke wooden furniture, beautiful designer rug, striking artwork by Kirsty Black and bespoke wooden flooring throughout the apartment all work together to create a warm and inviting home with plenty of personality.

Our clients often tell us how much their visitors admire their home, but more importantly, they love living in it themselves.

At D for Design Interior Design, we work with many different interior styles. For us, it is about getting to know our clients, understanding what they love and creating a home that feels personal to them.

If you have an upcoming project, we would love to hear from you. Creating a well-considered interior takes time, so it is always good to start the conversation early.

Beautiful pieces of furniture that suit the style of an interior and that our clients absolutely love can sometimes be tricky to find. So when the perfect piece comes along, it is often worth purchasing it straight away.

This gorgeous oak console helped create the relaxed coastal feel our clients were looking for, and we were lucky to find several other unique pieces that all work beautifully together.

It is always such a pleasure to see a home come together and, most importantly, to have happy clients.

Subtle styling touches bring a sense of cosiness, warmth and character to an interior.

From the softness of layered textiles to the beauty of carefully chosen objects, these finishing details create a home that feels welcoming and lived-in. They reflect your personality, add depth and texture, and gently bring your overall interior style together.

We loved bringing together coastal, tropical and vintage influences in this beautiful sun-filled Auckland weatherboard home.

This gorgeous flora and fauna fabric in soft blues and greens was our starting point and inspired the colour palette throughout.

We layered natural textures with carefully chosen furniture and unique pieces to create a home that feels relaxed, warm and inviting, with plenty of personality.

I am currently in Samoa, taking some much-needed time out.

The last two years have been challenging and have left me feeling quite burned out. I have learned how important it is to look after myself and recognise when I need to stop and step away before things become too much.

Samoa is my go-to place for times like this. I have been here several times, I know what to expect, and I know I can completely switch off.

It always takes me a little while to fully unwind, so I have learned to give myself enough time to slow down properly and simply enjoy being here.

By the time I return home next week, I know I will have renewed energy and feel ready to take on life and work again.

Life as an interior designer might look easy and glamorous from the outside, but running an interior design business comes with many challenges — and life in general has a habit of throwing us curveballs too.

I am sharing this because I think it is important to talk about looking after our mental health, recognising when we are running low, and giving ourselves permission to take the time we need.

Sometimes stepping away for a while is exactly what we need.

I can’t wait to show you some of these beautiful pieces of furniture in my clients’ new home in the Wairarapa.

We are combining their existing furniture with some gorgeous new pieces, creating a completely new look while giving the pieces they already love a new life.

It is lovely to see how existing furniture can work in a completely different home and be integrated into a fresh new interior.

Some pieces of furniture can look fabulous in almost any interior — whether the style is classic, modern, French, farmhouse, colonial or coastal.

Mixing styles and creating contrast can add interest, character and even provoke thought. With creativity and an eye for balance, so much is possible.

It is something we are good at D for Design Interior Design, and one of the reasons people engage us.

We specialise in creating unique homes in a wide range of interior design styles, shaped around our clients, their preferences and lifestyle.
