Just came back from a lovely weekend away with my daughter in Martinborough.
It was such special mother-and-daughter time while she is home in New Zealand after spending the last two years living in the Netherlands.
We were treated to two beautiful winter days of blue skies and warm sunshine before winter reminded us how cold it can be.
It made us appreciate just how many gorgeous sunny winter days we have here in New Zealand, especially compared with Northern Europe. Those beautiful days make winter something to look forward to, if we don’t forget them when the weather turns cold again.
On those icy days, hunker down and make the most of them. Stay warm, snuggle up with a blanket, light a few scented candles, and enjoy simple comforts like a delicious warming stew.
When you take care of your senses and create a home that feels warm, comfortable and cosy, winter becomes not just bearable but a season to savour.
A time to slow down, turn inward, reflect, and appreciate all that you have.
