Getting ready for Sunday ♡

Any parent knows what an essential item merino clothing is for a new baby, especially in New Zealand where many whānau struggle to keep their home warm and dry. Merino clothing can be expensive and we struggle to get enough for our newborn clothing packs. It has been a wish of the trust for several years to have locally made merino items for our packs.

The wonderful Ange from SilverCircus Clothing is going to be facilitating workshops where community members can work together to create warm merino clothing for local babies in need. This is a wonderful way for us to literally wrap our new whānau members in love from the community from their first moments.

We are really excited about this project which has been a long time in the planning stages. We have applied for grant funding previously to make this happen but have never been successful. Now, due to a beautifully generous donation from the estate of Marie Harrington, we can make this happen. Marie was a skilful knitter who loved to craft handmade items to be donated to her local hospital so this is a way for her generosity to continue after she is gone.

Been over a year since I had my second corneal transplant... and I've been nervous to get on the sewing machine, after the heartbreaking frustration of not being able to see well enough.
I made these last night 😁 So excited to have been able too

As a tester I made some vintage cotton, lined zip up wallets/makeup bags/cases
