The huia is one of my favourite birds to draw, there’s something about them that is hauntingly beautiful. Perhaps I only see them that way because they are gone…

I want to draw a series of birds, both extinct and endangered, to remind us of what we have and what can be lost if we keep going the way we are. I often think that art isn’t enough of a contribution to conservation, but it’s the only way that I know how to share… I’m calling the series “Gone are the Echoes” and if you have a favourite bird you’d like to see in ink, please let me know 🤍
