The Holst Garn Coast is a light fi*****ng weight / 3ply yarn with a blend of 55% merino lambswool and 45% cotton, making it a perfect summer garment and project which is exactly why it is Ashleigh’s February Staff Pick.

The coast has a great range of of colours and works beautifully for colourwork or lace as well as single colour, or worked with two strands held together. Ashleigh has also crocheted it up as a fi*****ng weight / 4 ply with great success. With 350 meters per 50 gram ball it goes a long way, making it perfect for those bigger projects too.

This lovely summer top is the Rosa Tee (Lady) by Along Avec Anna.

Ashleigh’s Staff Pick for January is the absolutely stunning Embroidery on Knits book by Judit Gummlich.

This book is a piece of art in and of itself. Filled with beautiful photographs by Simone Hawlisch to help inspire you as well as show you how to work up these lovely embellishments.
Whether you are wanting to spruce up an old piece, add a point of interest to a simple garment, up the finishing touches to something special or just try something new, this book is a fantastic one to add to your bookshelf. In Ashleigh’s case due to tendinitis and carpel tunnel in both hands she is on strict orders to limit her knitting, so looking though Embroidery on Knits, planning next projects and trying a little bit of something that uses muscles in slightly different ways (along with physio, stretches and plenty of rest) is just what is needed to help keep her on track.

Merry Christmas from the Knitnstitch team!

Our retail store on Dominion Road will be closed until the 6th of January… except for both upcoming Saturdays, when we’ll be open from 10-3pm.

Our online store remains open 24/7, but expect delays for shipping until we’re back up and running.

For those celebrating Socktober, how are your sock projects going?

Callum’s favourite sock yarn in the store is the Sox Easy Wash Tweedie, which makes a wonderfully soft, but sturdy fabric. He prefers using double-pointed needles, because he feels it gives him the best control. But don’t forget, there are so many other options: fixed circulars, magic-loop method, or even the Crazy Trios from Addi!

If you haven’t started your Socktober project yet, don’t worry! There’s plenty of time, and we have plenty of wool, needles and tips to help you out.
