Join artist Tracey Williams on the 9th of May at the old Rawene campus and learn to design an inspired chair using a combination of collage and paint. 10am till 3pm.

Create your own design using favorite copied illustrations or material provided.
All materials (including chair) will be provided but you can also bring sentimental items like photos or newspaper clippings to include in your piece.

Tomorrow Fri 17th April mataora will continue from 10 am with a wananga to discuss this collaboration at 4.30pm.
You are invited to view the mataora and wananga discussion engaging the political and philosophical questions that underpin this collaboration.

Toitū te Mana: Tā Moko as Resistance, Mana Motuhake as Practice
Hemopereki Simon × Te Rangitu Netana
10 - 3 pm on Thurs /Fri 16–17 April | No. 1 Parnell Gallery, Rawene

Dr Hemopereki Simon joins celebrated tā moko practitioner and artist Te Rangitu Netana for a collaboration that brings together political thought, embodied practice, as mataora (male facial skin art) and Māori authority in a powerful gallery intervention.

Wānanga Session
On 17 April at 4:30pm, Hemopereki Simon will host a wānanga discussion engaging the political and philosophical questions that underpin this collaboration. At the centre of the collaboration is the relationship between tā moko and mana motuhake.

Just off the old SH1 on the outskirts of Warkworth is Parry Kauri Park. Host to this magnificent kauri -McKinney Kauri painted by Denis Bourke with the prominent Dome peak in the background. In the early years of European settlement Parry Kauri Park was part of the property owned by the Rev Robert McKinney (1826? - 1905), the first minister of the Presbyterian Church in Warkworth.
