We are absolutely 💯 thrilled to celebrate 🥳 our Lisa's incredible achievement, where she not only won, but put a standing 8 count on her opponent, followed by a first round stoppage at the Dorset Boxing Championship in the UK.
Lisa is 57years old, fights at 57kgs & remains N.Z's oldest competing female boxer.
She was by far the oldest female on the card having to take on a much younger opponent in Beccy Evans in order to get matched for this International U.K vs N.Z bout.
Lisa who self funds her boxing was the only NZ competitor & had travelled the most distance of all the fighters competing in this International Masters Showdown (the largest in UK & Europe), which included also fighters from Australia, Austria, Germany, France, Holland & the UK.
She is a proud West Coaster & still remains (26 years later) the only Coast female to have ever won an Elite NZ National Boxing title (putting her forever in the NZ Boxing history book). She did this in her first year of taking up the sport in 2000, & represented NZ in 2001 winning the overall Female Award for the NZ vs Australia test. This all while continuing to remain living on the Coast.
She hung up her gloves after that, not returning competively to the sport till recently in her 50's, but like any tough, gritty Coaster, no matter the challenges, she digs deep & cracks on!
