A quick project update: I relocated to Dallas, Texas, in January, and I've been actively exploring opportunities in the plastic recycling business. Unfortunately, the market here doesn't seem mature enough for my Upcycled Plastics venture. Nevertheless, this project has been an incredible experience, and I'm grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.

On a new journey now—I'm currently studying AI and working on a prototype chatbot, with plans to commercialize it soon.

Thank you to Whutupōro - Awesome Accountants for making it happen! After half a year of planning and production we were able to deliver 30 educational kits made from 100% upcycled plastic, to the young learners across the Selwyn community.

Production is going great!

Thanks to the support of our amazing sponsor Whutupōro Accountants we have been able to recycle over 5000 used milk bottles into 100% recycled educational kits. We will be donating these to primary schools across the Selwyn area in February.

It was an awesome night at the YES National Awards. I was able to place 2nd out of the 1200 business groups that entered into the Young Enterprise Scheme competition this year. I was also able to win the HSBC award for sustainability. A massive thank you to our sponsor Whutuporo Accountants. We've spent the last three months designing and refining a new product, which we're calling the Educational Character Kit. These kits have 100 characters, allowing young minds to create almost any word or basic maths equation. By the end of this year, we hope to introduce these into learning centres throughout Selwyn, before expanding to cover the schools who need it most across New Zealand!

At Upcycled Plastics, we've been really busy over the past year with expanding our operations. We're now recycling over 500 Anchor milk bottles weekly, from which we're creating a wide range of products. These include mailbox numbers, letter stands, and educational kits, which we're pushing to schools across New Zealand. We're also working with Latheabout Woodturning to create luxury products, such as pens and pendants. All of these products are made from our modular, 100% recycled sheets - for inquiries, send us a message!

Upcycled Plastics was set up by Levi and Alex as a school business project at Rolleston College. We set a goal to reduce waste in our Selwyn community, after 6 months of building, experimenting, we have developed a product that is fully sustainable. We collect code 2 plastics, like milk bottles from cafes and homes and wooden pallets from businesses all across Rolleston. Using machines and processes we developed in-house, we upcycle these materials into a quality product. All our efforts have helped reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills.
