This year for Christmas I am supporting Ace Hydraulics and their Christmas campaign for children of all ages, I’ve already started my box of goodies for them as well as a couple of other organisations.

Who are you supporting or helping this year if any?

🎄 ACE HYDRAULICS CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PRESENT DRIVE 🎄

Christmas is meant to be a magical time of year… but for many families, it’s also one of the hardest.

With the cost of living continuing to rise, many parents are having to make impossible choices. Sadly, some local children will wake up on Christmas morning with very little—or nothing at all—to open.

Across New Zealand, around 1 in 7 children experience material hardship, meaning they regularly go without some everyday essentials.

That’s where our amazing Nelson and Richmond community comes in.

From now until 21st December, Ace Hydraulics is collecting new and good-quality pre-loved Christmas gifts for children and teenagers of all ages.

We’d love donations such as:

🎁 Toys, books, games, puzzles and craft kits
⚽ Sports equipment and outdoor toys
🧸 Good-quality pre-loved gifts in excellent condition
🧴 Toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, skincare and hair products
🧦 Socks, hats, beanies and other practical essentials
🎧 Teen gifts for boys and girls, who are often the forgotten age group at Christmas

It doesn’t have to be expensive. It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small. Every single donation can help put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas.

All donations will be wrapped and distributed just before Christmas through local organisations, including the Salvation Army and local Social Services and Community Welfare teams, helping ensure they reach families who need them most.

There are only a few months until Christmas, and the earlier we start collecting, the more presents we’ll be able to gather and the more local children and teenagers we’ll be able to help.

Supporting Helen & Ezybabe with their SCBU baskets 🥰

Amongst all the auction chaos and birthday organising, there’s still a little bit of EzyBabe giving back happening behind the scenes. ❤️

I’ve put together another lot of gifts to send up to SCBU, filled with EzyBabe goodies, Steph Scurr - Independent Scentsy Consultant Scentsy, Real Family Photography vouchers, and some gorgeous knitting that has been donated especially for this cause.

For those who don’t know the story behind these…

Nine years ago, when Ez was born, things very quickly turned into an emergency. He got stuck during delivery and was born not breathing. He was helicoptered to Wellington NICU that same night, with Hubby and I following the next day.

What followed was a long, stressful and incredibly emotional week in Wellington. We had left our other two boys in the care of family, so while we were obviously completely focused on getting Ez well, we were also desperately missing them.

A week later, we finally got our first proper cuddles with our little guy and were flown home to Nelson SCBU.

Thankfully, our story had a very happy ending. ❤️

And today we have the absolute privilege of having Ezra — full of life, mischief, kindness and the most incredible zest for life. I hope he carries that beautiful nature with him forever.

Ezra is also part of the inspiration behind the name EzyBabe, so these little gift packs have always felt especially meaningful.

When I first started my sewing business, Dad suggested putting together a gift to give back to the community and hopefully offer a little support, kindness and love to a family going through a similar experience.

I don’t think he expected that one little idea to still be going nine years later! 😅

But, in true EzyBabe fashion, it has grown along the way and now includes some absolutely wonderful businesses and generous people who have donated their beautiful products to help make these gifts extra special.

We’ve been sending them up to SCBU fairly regularly, and this time feels particularly special because Ezra’s birthday is just around the corner.

So, today, Ezra and Dad are heading up to give these out and hopefully spread a little joy to some families who might need it most.

A small gesture can mean so much when you're having one of the hardest weeks of your life. And I’m incredibly grateful that something that started from our own difficult experience has grown into a way of giving a little bit of love back. 🥰
