Knitted to fit 6-12 months in a 50/50 blend of alpaca and merino, it’s a fun vest in Denim Blue with lovely textures.
I’m getting lots of requests for vests due to the changeable spring temperatures and I am almost ready to cast on a pink one (different pattern) size 2-3 years 🌸

I’m almost at the right length and then to finish, an easy 1x1 rib. Little sleeves don’t take too long for a 1 year old so I’m hoping to have this finished by the end of the week. I absolutely love this green, it reminds me of pine trees 🌲

Lotus Leaf Green 💚
I finally cast on a new little jumper in gorgeous Rowan Felted Tweed - a blend of merino and alpaca with a small amount of viscose in it. I learnt today that viscose makes the fabric smoother and lighter and is a fibre made from plant cellulose, usually from wood pulp like pine or eucalyptus (you learn something every day!)The tweedy effect and feel of this yarn is so lovely and I’m enjoying knitting it. This pattern has the textured yoke which is very popular and I’m knitting it to fit a 1 year old.

I’m trying out different methods for the brim or band of a beanie. There are lots of different styles - 2x2 rib, 1x1 rib, garter rib, folded brim and rolled edge are the most common. But I think I’ve found my favourite which is twisted rib. This is where you knit through the back of the knit stitch on a 1x1 rib. Even though it’s slightly less stretchy than a standard rib it’s neat and more defined. I’m trying to make a beanie with the leftovers of every little jumper I make so I’m ready for next winter 🤍

This has already sold but I’ll be knitting more over the next few weeks. Little vests have become quite the trend it seems 😊
This pattern is made to fit 6-12 months and is knitted in Inca Spun Alpaca, it’s soft and highlights the texture of the different stitches. I have some Touch Yarns ‘bubblegum’ merino I’m keen to cast on soon so keep an eye out for that one 🌸

The little striped jumper is now for sale. This is knitted in NZ merino, it’s soft and so lovely. As usual the stripe sequence didn’t work out the way I wanted so the sleeves are finished in peony, where the body is finished in pumpkin. It’s still cute for a 2 year old though! I’ve spent the last few weeks knitting myself a project bag and decided to line it so it doesn’t stretch. I buy my linen from Wallace Cotton and it always comes in the most beautiful cotton bags, so I went through them and chose this one as the colours were perfect. I have some more cotton yarn arriving this week and I’m thinking I may make a couple more bags for Christmas presents. I love my bag and it’s perfect for my current favourite knitting project 🥰
PS I am a knitter not a sewer so don’t look too closely at my hand stitching 😬

I was too tired last night to work on my other projects, so I cast on a hat instead in a pretty blue called Petrel. This is a beautiful pattern with a double band, hence the depth of it, and a pretty lace body. I couldn’t keep up with hats this year so I’m making a head start on winter 2027 when I get the chance ❄️
