Arty Farty™ is a New Zealand owned and operated webstore specialising in Rock Art Supplies. I actually started the business in April 2009 and was known as Crochet Creations where I sold crochet hooks and hand crocheted goods. A hobby I still enjoy, but then I discovered rock art !!! I personally started d

rawing on rocks to hide in public places for kids around mid 2017 so I decided to add these products to our webstore, so Crochet Creations wasn’t really a very fitting name anymore. We rebranded, upgraded the website and now Crochet Creations is Arty Farty. www.artyfarty.kiwi www.artyfarty.co.nz

Our first rock to be found and shared was one done by my daughter Katherine, who was 5 at the time and the message with the image of the find was

"Visited from The United Stated and found this. Would you prefer I re-hide here in Auckland or take back to USA?"

That was it, we were hooked

March 2019 I started the Rocks NZ facebook group as finding and joining multiple groups especially with Auckland alone having so many groups, you don't really know where to share the rock you have found, so a NZ wide group seemed like a good idea, and about to celebrate our 3rd birthday with over 9000 members

Rocks NZ has most of its competitions sponsored by Arty Farty and in July 2020 we ran a competition to see which NZ Rock group was the most active. Invercargill won by a long shot, so in October 2020, we packed up our rocks and loaded a suitcase and headed to Invercargill to put on a RocksNZ Invercargill edition Rock Hunt at Queens Park. We have locals donate prizes to give away as well as Resene Donating lots of test pots - it was EPIC

Covid hit and we havent been able to run any more bit rock hunts but they will be coming. So Arty Farty is not just markers for rock art anymore, we have expanding to offer a wider range of artist pens and pencils too including products from Faber-Castell, Derwent, Stabilo, Flysea, Uni-Ball, Pilot, Chromacryl to name a few

My Daughter Katherine who most of you will recognize as the cute little 3 year old holding a pretty rock.... Well, she's a tad grown up now and lover her art

She has been busy crafting and painting over the last few school holidays and I have made her a space to call her own on the website to sell her Art.
