A couple of new pieces of mixed medium sculpture. Calling it "The curious Piwakawaka" series.
The smaller piece stands 600mm tall x 340mm wide with a hand carved Oamaru stone Piwakawaka admiring a shiny blue sphere mounted on a piece of native bog wood. The stone base and the Piwakawaka are made of reclaimed stone from the Wellington civic square refurbishment and I've left the base in the same state that it came to me with the remnants of plaster and moss keeping that bit of history from civic square.
The big piece consists of 2 stone Piwakawaka mesmerized by the shiny rainbow ball, mounted on a piece of native wood pulled from the Rangatiki river, mounted on a steel poll it appears to balance by itself in the garden environment. Just a wee bit of gluing and sealing to go then these two will be available for purchase
