Grand Geranium went to her new home today. I took the photo of a gorgeous, red geranium at the Pancake Rocks Cafe, and committed the colour to paper. I absolutely loved describing this piece. I hope that the purchaser enjoys having the piece on their home, and that it brings a lot of joy.

It was wonderful to have Magic Pencil as a silver sponsor for the show at the Cashmere Club too. Such an opportunity to support the phenomenal work that Arts Canterbury do in promotions the arts in Canterbury.

Tonight is the opening night of the Corcoran French Kaiapoi Art Expo. Magic Pencil is delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor a Category Prize for the best coloured pencil or graphite work on show. We’re very excited at Magic Pencil to announce that we are sponsoring a Category Prize at the Corcoran French Kaiapoi Annual Art Exhibition, Raven Quay which is taking place on 16 and 17 July.

Strelitzia reginae completed on Dura-Lar Matt Film (22.8 x 30.5 cm) using Caran d’Ache Luminance coloured pencils and Brush and Pencil Powder Blender and Titanium White Powder. (Brush and Pencil products are available from www.magicpencil.co.nz.)

I am very happy with the result. It takes a bit of time to get used to working on the Film, but the outcome is worth it!

King Protea stands proud off the Fabriano Black paper. This was done using Prismacolor Premier and Caran d’Ache Luminance pencils. Magic Pencil products used were the Colored Pencil Powder Blender and the Colored Pencil Titanium White. The Titanium White powder allows you to create dramatic effects of light which are otherwise I achievable with a white pencil.

I had a lovely excursion to town this morning and had a gorgeous lunch at Raw Sugar. Back in Pegasus just in time as the very angry storm clouds rolled over the Alps and started dumping their rain on us. Lovely to be in the studio listening to the rain on the roof. The protea is progressing, and I have both pottles of magic out. How I love the Titanium White Powder to bring in those light effects that are simply impossible with a white pencil. I love these products - because they really enable my work!
