Putting final touches to a new sculpture.
Experimenting with the stingray form — testing how the pair interact, adjusting placement and angle to capture their essence: the flow, the floating, the movement through water.

Carved from Tasmanian blackwood, the oiling brings depth to the grain, light to the curves, and warmth to the surface. Mounted to the wall, the pair come alive as a study in grace and motion.

Finishing up a pair of Fairy Terns.
Carved from Tasmanian blackwood and totara, these wall-mounted birds are pared back to clean lines with a nod to mid-century modern design. The final steps — oiling, drilling for the rods, and mounting — bring out the warmth of the timber and the sense of lift in their forms.

Graceful, simple, and ready to take flight.

You never really know what a block of timber will reveal.
With every cut, the grain begins to show — lines, curves, light and shade emerging. Slowly, the Kia takes shape, its character carried in the wood itself.

One swallow is simple, three feel balanced, and five bring a sense of movement—what feels right to you?

These wall-mounted swallows are carved from Tasmanian blackwood in a minimalist, mid-century inspired style. In this reel I test out different arrangements: a single bird on its own, a group of three, and finally a flock of five. Each version changes the rhythm of the wall, from understated simplicity to something more dynamic.

New Zealand, in mountain contours. This map is cut from recycled kauri floorboards, giving old timber a second life. From floor to wall, the boards shift from their original purpose into something new—lines of land and mountain shaped into a relief. A fun piece of upcycling, carrying history in the grain.
