Project Snapshot | Khandallah House

A typical Wellington situation, beautiful views and location, great sun, split-level entry, steep and precarious access into the house and no relationship between the house and the garden.

The renovation consisted of a new accessible driveway, landscape and deck entrance and new kitchen. The key was to create easy access and indoor/outdoor flow while respecting the home’s original mid-century character.

The result is a warm, welcoming and accessible entrance. The new deck now fully embraces the north-west aspect and views, while offering greater privacy from the street. With wide gentle steps connecting house and garden, the home’s outdoor spaces are finally easy to enjoy.

Project Snapshot | Te Korōria CommunityHub

It’s great finishing the Te Korōria Community Hub in Karori for the Karori Anglican Parish, and later watching the community bring that building to life.

The project transformed a heritage church site into a welcoming community hub, bringing together a café, counselling rooms, children’s facilities and spaces for community programmes.

My role was to lead the project through from initial concepts and feasibility, through to construction completion, helping balance heritage considerations, staged construction and the Parish’s need to remain operational throughout the build.

What I particularly enjoyed was working with a wide range of people to create a place centred on connection, care and belonging.
