I’m delighted to share my Brooklyn project, featured in this month’s . This lovely owner reached out to me just before extensive architectural renovations got under way. For a period of 18 months we worked on the colours, interior materials and furniture and styling details - with the result being an interior that is cohesive, comfortable, unexpected and joyful. These photos show a little of the living area and hallway, beautifully displaying some of their wonderful contemporary art collection. The ceilings you see here are a soft green, colour drenched from main living room wall colour. Photos by .beattie Further posts to come, sharing various rooms.

The owners of this Karori home now have the loveliest living space. They contacted me for colour advice, and the initial consultation led to many changes taking place. I had this south-facing living room colour drenched in a soft green which is utterly divine - both warming and calming. This morning we installed these fluid velvet lined drapes from ceiling to floor which has added glamour. Sheers behind soften the light when needed. Scroll for a before pic, and also to see the right difference curtains make to a room. 👌Perfection. A big shout out to my wonderful Wellington curtain makers who do a perfect job every time.

For my Island Bay Project clients who love to cook, their new kitchen was the most important room in the house to perfect. While the full-home renovation was finished just before Christmas, I only returned to take photos on Friday. The great thing about the time-lapse is I saw how the house is being used 👌, and heard how well everything works. The owners are thrilled with everything about this kitchen - not just the materials and style which suit them perfectly, but the functionality and feel. To me the wooden bench top is the star of the show, as are the mosaic tiles with their texture and thick grouting. A few more photos to come over the next few days of other spaces in this home. Thanks to - in particular Marty - for his care and attention to detail to the joinery and finish.

On the workroom table this week: the gorgeous material and colour palette for a Villa I’ve been working on these last few weeks. The interior style for this home is, in words: Modern heritage, simple elegance and welcoming. It also has a wee Paris twist. Curtain fabrics ordered today, which means move-in date is just around the corner!

Art and architecture in Autumn - a few days in Sydney visiting my daughter very well spent! Stumbled across the flower market which was a joy; caught the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in the splendid concert hall at the Opera House (pink upholstered seats - love) - oh, and thousands of steps taken checking out architecture in suburbs previously unknown, and from Bondi to Coogee today! Thanks Sydney!

Some lovely feedback from an Eastbourne job. I really loved working on this home - which was actually typical of many I work on. My clients already had a beautiful home but it was very tired with dated furniture and in need of dressing. I helped with new settees, chairs, coffee tables, lighting, plus reupholstery, soft furnishings and layout. The result is just gorgeous - customised to their style and needs, their architecture and position beside the sea. Loved working on this home.

This is one of the narrowest and intrinsically darkest bathrooms I’ve ever designed. Now complete, it is one of the prettiest and most inviting! At just 1.2m wide with the only access being the end wall, it took a significant amount of design-prowess to improve the layout and add adequate storage. The vanity is just 30cm wide but 1.5m long, but it works due to a protruding basin and in-set storage behind the mirror. The wallpaper does the rest of the work making the window-less room inviting and comfortable. This bathroom is one of 2 finished in the same home - the other shared earlier this week. Both use the same tiles and fixtures for continuity. I’m thrilled with the result, as are the owners. Brilliant building as always by

Introducing another beautiful bathroom, just completed for a Kelburn home. In a favourite colour of the owners (which so happens to be one of mine too!) this blue suits the family villa bathroom and adds soul and warmth to its south-facing aspect. The tiles chosen are timeless, new shutters add lightness, and the vanity and mirror cabinet are customised to suit the layout and maximise storage. Scroll for the before photos. A pleasure now to both use - and enjoy! Built by . Design by … Built for a lovely family!

Much of my work involves making neutrals sing perfectly - because not everyone wants or needs strong colour. This home is one I helped select paint colours for late last year. It was looking so beautiful in the sun today, and I took the chance to snap photos when I returned for a consultation with the next door neighbour. We had initially chosen a whiter tint for the weatherboards, but after doing a test area, it proved too glare-y in the strong sun. The other problem with white is it gets dirty quickly in our windy city, so requires more maintenance. The finished result is absolutely stunning - perfect! 👌

I’ve done 4 colour consultations this week - more than my usual and 2 today. They’re often quite intensive as every client and home is different - and I like to give homeowners my all. Here’s a beautiful home that was recently completed that I can show you. I love this colour scheme. It’s a turnaround from what it had been, and it thoroughly suits the home owners, the streetscape and I’m sure it gets some pretty good nods from passers-by!
