The Richie Rail 26 was supplied to lakesidestainlessltd, and they did an outstanding job bringing it to life across two impressive installations, a residential project in Queenstown and the iconic Skyline Queenstown.

The integrated lighting delivers a clean, seamless finish while adding both safety and atmosphere to these amazing spaces!

ARCHITECTURAL UPLIGHTING

Good uplighting isn’t about seeing the light source, it’s about seeing what the light reveals.

By washing the ceiling with a soft, controlled glow, linear profiles can bring depth and volume back into a space while creating a calm, understated atmosphere.

These projects are classic examples of how Moth Light uses linear profiles to enhance architecture without competing with it.

We’re proud to have delivered a tailored lighting solution for the Tāwharau Pod Canopy on Te Ara Tupua Shared Path, a new cycle and pedestrian connection linking Ngauranga and Petone.

Working closely with Stephenson & Turner, Moth Light supplied Angle Andy 16 and Flat Freddie 14 profiles, fitted with a customised LED strip developed specifically for the canopy.

The project presented an interesting technical challenge: with just one possible power-feed location and a required feed length of more than 15 metres, the lighting solution needed to be both highly efficient and carefully engineered. We selected a low-power 2.4W-per-metre LED strip to meet these constraints while still delivering the required light levels across the path below.

The result is a clean, discreet lighting element that integrates seamlessly with the canopy’s architectural form, contributing to a distinctive new piece of public infrastructure and an important connection for the Wellington region.

A great example of thoughtful design, technical problem-solving and collaboration coming together.

Curves, continuity and carefully controlled light at 68 Jervois Quay.

Moth Light supplied the linear lighting for the new Wellington City Council offices, including Nellie Neon 16, Nellie Neon 10 and Slim Jim 10, alongside a custom “Opti-Grazer” LED strip with integrated 20-degree optics.

A defining feature of the project is the curved linear neon. To achieve the required forms, Nellie Neon’s aluminium mounting profiles were rolled to follow the architecture while maintaining smooth, continuous lines of light.

It was a pleasure to contribute to this considered workplace alongside architect DGSE, electrical engineer 335 Ltd, building contractor LT McGuinness and electrician Millars.

Moth Light supplied a range of luminaires for the Wellington Airport Fire Station, supporting a coordinated lighting approach across both interior and exterior spaces.

Externally, Flat Freddie 14 was integrated into the soffits, providing a clean, low-profile solution, while the Richie Rail 20 illuminated handrail defines the front entrance and provides wayfinding and site integration. Within the surrounding landscape, Where’s Ben 25 provides subtle, functional light.

Inside, the lighting strategy centres around Bob Each Way 65, Downhill Dan 30, and Downhill Dan 35, which form the primary sources of light throughout the station. These recessed, surface-mounted, wall mounted and suspended profiles are used across a range of spaces including the kitchen, gym, corridors, offices, and locker rooms, creating a consistent and cohesive lighting language.

The Bob Each Way 65 profile is installed over the kitchen island and throughout key areas, with some luminaires fitted with RGBW LED strip and commissioned via DALI. This allows the lighting to change colour in emergency situations, supporting operational requirements while maintaining a considered architectural presence during everyday use.

Additional detailing includes Tiny Tim 11 integrated into joinery, providing task lighting.
