Moth Light supplied a range of luminaires for the Wellington Airport Fire Station, supporting a coordinated lighting approach across both interior and exterior spaces.

Externally, Flat Freddie 14 was integrated into the soffits, providing a clean, low-profile solution, while the Richie Rail 20 illuminated handrail defines the front entrance and provides wayfinding and site integration. Within the surrounding landscape, Where’s Ben 25 provides subtle, functional light.

Inside, the lighting strategy centres around Bob Each Way 65, Downhill Dan 30, and Downhill Dan 35, which form the primary sources of light throughout the station. These recessed, surface-mounted, wall mounted and suspended profiles are used across a range of spaces including the kitchen, gym, corridors, offices, and locker rooms, creating a consistent and cohesive lighting language.

The Bob Each Way 65 profile is installed over the kitchen island and throughout key areas, with some luminaires fitted with RGBW LED strip and commissioned via DALI. This allows the lighting to change colour in emergency situations, supporting operational requirements while maintaining a considered architectural presence during everyday use.

Additional detailing includes Tiny Tim 11 integrated into joinery, providing task lighting.

Did you know our illuminated handrail system, Richie Rail 18, can be integrated into almost any timber profile?

Designed for interior stairs and ramps across residential, commercial, and public spaces, Richie Rail 18 offers a flexible solution for projects where timber is central to the design.

Each installation is custom made, allowing timber type, size, length, and configuration to be tailored to the specific requirements of the project. Mounting options include glass mounted, post-top, and wall mounted.

Designed and manufactured in New Zealand, Richie Rail 18 enables lighting to be seamlessly integrated into timber handrails without compromising the overall design.

Layered lighting working together within a single space.

The Bob Each Way 65 profile takes centre stage over the kitchen, rod-suspended and powder-coated in black. Its downlight delivers functional task lighting to the island below, while the uplight can be independently controlled via Bluetooth to softly illuminate the ceiling plane, reducing contrast and adding depth.

Along the stone wall, Gracie Grazer 23 does exactly what it’s designed for — grazing light across the surface to draw out texture and material detail that would otherwise sit flat.

Around the perimeter of the lounge, Flat Freddie 14 is recessed into the ceiling, providing a continuous ambient layer that subtly defines the edges of the room without competing with the view.

BEGA underwater luminaires at Tom Parker Fountain

A centrepiece of Napier’s Art Deco landscape, the Tom Parker Fountain has been lighting up the city since 1936. Its latest upgrade now features a lighting solution driven by BEGA performance and reliability.

The project replaced 16 high-wattage incandescent lamps with 10 × BEGA 84862 underwater floodlights — 49W, DALI-controlled RGB+W with a precise 20° half-beam angle. This delivers controlled, vibrant illumination that enhances the movement of the water while reducing energy use and ongoing maintenance.

Engineered for demanding aquatic environments, BEGA’s underwater luminaires deliver long-term durability, optical accuracy, and colour consistency — critical for a civic landmark operating night after night. Integrated Casambi wireless control enables programmable sequences that honour the fountain’s historic displays.

Moth Light recently received an IES ANZ NZ Chapter Award of Commendation for this project, recognising the lighting design and ex*****on.

Taradale Anglican Church | Lighting Upgrade

For the 150th Jubilee of , the brief was clear: improve reliability, simplify control, and enhance the architecture — all while respecting the building’s historic fabric.

BEGA luminaires play a key role in the scheme, delivering precise, high-quality illumination. To highlight the altar, BEGA 51341.1 K3 spotlights were discreetly mounted and carefully aimed. The Apse is illuminated with two BEGA 84963 luminaires, using controlled optics to draw focus to key architectural elements without visual intrusion.

The lighting upgrade is supported by Offspring Profiles linear luminaires, discreetly integrated to provide clean, functional light throughout the historic interior.

A wireless control system enables intuitive scene-setting for services, ceremonies, and events, giving the parish flexibility without complexity.

The result is a layered lighting solution that balances performance, restraint, and atmosphere — supporting the church’s ongoing use while celebrating its architecture.
