Have spent the day in the vicinity of my desk. I faithfully wrote a little to-do list this morning and, well, let's just say I tried hard. Not a complete fail but... ๐Ÿฅด Maude's diversionary tactic was to present me with a ball, half a ball and a squeaky pig, and to look longingly at them. My diversionary tactic was to walk backwards and forwards to the coffee machine. A lot. Both tactics worked well. These, and the rabbit warren I went down looking for some photos. Aside from really having to think hard about which and when they were taken and trying really hard to find the original, there are sooooo many to wade through. Some are good, some aren't quite as good as I remember them and some are terrible. For the most part, it was a pleasant trip down memory lane and if I stayed focused for even half a second I might have more success next time.
The last image here of a little Amanda at a tea party with her friends might make you smile!

A snapshot of treasures currently found in the garden... and in the town belt, and around the corner in Mt Victoria, and at the Small Acorns flower market. Spring is definitely springing! Hope you had a lovely weekend xx

Sunshine-filled Sundays.
A little floral faffery, a run along the beach (only Maude was running), and a little baking (a lemon and poppyseed cake).
Hope you've had a great weekend too xx

I did a little japonica foraging one morning this week. However, this is not it.
The japonica I had my eye on is in no man's land, but even so there was still that frisson of nervous excitement as I set out. It was still pitch black outside, and my partner in crime ๐Ÿถ led the way on her lead. We arrived at said foraging spot and tried valiantly and hurriedly to secure the goods. It didn't help that I somehow had the dullest, bluntest, worst seccateurs in history, which refused to cut anything thicker than a twig. And my partner in crime was intent on things other than being helpful. After what seemed the longest time, but was probably only a few minutes at most, I called time. I had enough smallish 'bits' for a vase, and we set off for home.
Mission accomplished or so I thought... because once it was light enough to see the results of my foraging, I discovered that I had a lovely collection of twigs and bare sticks, a little past it blossom that fell off on the way home, and barely one or two buds between them all. An epic foraging fail.
I might have to try again... ๐Ÿฅด

I've been really enjoying another jewellery making course. Although, while everyone else is busy making actual jewellery, I've been busy making silver spoons. As you do. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Someone asked me what I was doing with them. Well, other than gazing at them in wonderment, there is always a bowl of whipped cream somewhere nearby. ๐Ÿค“

There was that, as it turns out, wild proclamation about a monthly 'snapshot' of garden snippets utilising this vintage chai tray and some old bottles. This is May. Still showing signs of life with a few dahlias and some beautiful roses.
And yes, I know we are now well into June, and no, as yet I have nothing prepared. Don't hold your breath. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

My little Eva May. As said, she is a master of everything, but more specifically, now she is a Master of Arts in Creative Writing with Distinction. So proud of my little girl. I'm even willing to risk the telling off I'll get for posting this! xx

This is what you do when you need to create a new gift wrap for
Inspired by that school event a hundred years ago when somehow you ended up with an awful lot of beautiful hydrangeas in your bath, and a casually taken photo that you love, and you think to yourself how hard would it be to recreate it?
Well, firstly, hydrangeas that were literally thrown into the bath, with no need to think of arrangement or colour palette or anything else other than water for survival somehow managed to look perfectly imperfect without even trying. Isn't that always the way!
This little setup took a lot more thought and faffing around, not to mention the quest for the perfect hydrangea palette.
However, I think we got there in the end! And the gift wrap looks beautiful (even if I do say so myself) as you can see in the last image! xx

My little friend ๐Ÿถ and I are in Hawkes Bay for the weekend. Primarily to see my mother of course and also because I had visions of a sort of writer's retreat at the bach where I might knuckle down and actually write something-anything towards that writing project that I'm supposedly working on.
Just one small problem. Well actually potentially many small problems. Did you know that the collective noun for a group of mice is called 'a mischief'? Well once again a mischief of mice have munched their way into the pantry cupboard and devoured two large packets of savoirdi biscuits and a box of crackers, leaving behind many calling cards. Apparently the tiramisu party stopped short of a packet of chips and they turned their collective noses up at some left behind by mistake Christmas mince pies, before heading to the cosy hot water cupboard where they chewed through several rolls of paper hand towels, some actual towels and some old newspaper in order to make some very comfortable nests.
So the writer's retreat turned into a cleanup operation and I genuinely think I might have broken up the party just in time.
I still have ptsd thinking about the time, several years ago now, when some mice became many many mice and, left undisturbed for several months while a small kitchen renovation at the bach took longer than expected, they devoured everything in sight and nested on in and under every pillow and blanket and mattress. ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Tomorrow I'm installing 100 new ultrasonic repellent things!!

A few rescued blooms. I couldn't decide which was the worse fate - death by cyclone๐ŸŒ€ being eaten to death slowly by snail ๐ŸŒ or a quick beheading by seccateurs. โœ‚๏ธ Opted for the latter.
Hope your Sunday is as florabundant and not too gruesome ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
