The Ruby is both the modern and traditional birthstone for July. They are a powerful stone associated with good luck and good fortune.
Ruby Bay (Te Mamaku - black tree fern), in the Nelson region, gets its name from the deep red jasper pebbles which underlie the sandy beach and this inspired the pattern of this luscious scarf. A perfect gift for those born this month.
Did you know:
Chinese culture considers it the luckiest colour, and in the West, it’s the colour of love and passion. In Ancient China, rubies were buried under important buildings to protect them.

Since 1977, New Zealand has celebrated Arbor Day on June 5, which is also World Environment Day.
Did you know:
On a July day in 1890, children from Greytown School, residents and dignitaries planted 153 trees at the southern end of the town. Shops were closed, a holiday was declared, a band played and flags flew. According to the ‘Evening Post’, a fine time was had by all.

The 5th to 7th June is Queen’s Birthday weekend which inspired this gorgeous rich purple wrap/scarf.
Queenstown (Maori name: Tāhuna, meaning "shallow bay") was named in honour of our Queen.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, of the House of Windsor, was born on April 21st, 1926. However on 2021, her official Birthday is celebrated on June 12th in the UK and June 7th here in NZ.

Pearl is the traditional birthstone for those born in June and symbolises wisdom gained through experience.
Rarawa Beach, in Northland, consists of dazzling pure white silica sand where you feel like you are walking on a sea of crushed white pearls, but it’s not as soft as this gorgeous wrap.

Unlike gemstones that are measured by the carat, a Pearl’s weight is given in grains. It takes approximately 4 grains of Pearl to equal a gemstone carat.

The ripples on the windswept black sand at Waip**i (p**i waters) were the inspiration for this classic scarf.

Did you know:
From 1971 to 1987 iron ore was extracted from ironsand deposits along the Waip**i Beach coast. Water from the Wairoa Stream was collected in a reservoir, pumped to larger reservoirs further up the road, then mixed with the ironsand to make a slurry. This was pumped to ships anchored 3 kms offshore.

Inspired by the wonderful Autumn splendour near the historic gold mining area of Arrowtown (Māori: Haehaenui), this gorgeous flower and leaf patterned scarf glows in the sunshine.

Did you know:
Arrowtown, built on the banks of the Arrow River which was once a rich source of gold, attracted miners from around the world in pursuit of their fortune. In 1862 thousands of miners flocked to the Arrow River and at the height of the gold rush, the population reached 7,000, many of them Chinese.
