I did an experiment on the cost of handspun yarn as people often balk at the price tag. It took me 5 and a half hours to spin this 250g of handspun yarn (and it still needs to be washed and dried etc.). If I was paid minimum wage for my time and expertise that would be a cost of $100 per 100g skein yet most handspun yarns are sold for half of that. Obviously, more experienced spinners will be able to spin faster than I can but even so will not be making even minimum wage for their time. So next time you fall in love with a handspun yarn, just go for it cos it's really a bargain! 😘
