Maija Arts and Crafts, owned by an artist couple who started their small business in Bacolod City in the year 2012. “Maija” came from both of their nicknames specifically, Maimai (husband) and Jaja (wife). Jayson Nermal took up Bachelor Of Science Major in Architecture and later on took up a new course in Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Painting, while Diona de la Cruz - Nermal, took up Bachelor of

Fine Arts Major in Advertising. For them, making crafts or functional arts was their hobby and they find pleasure in teaching teens and kids of their knowledge about ART, and they are fond of giving workshops and short seminars for teachers, students and out-of-school youth around Bacolod. Their humble beginnings started when they made small beetles out of household / kitchen materials taught to them by a German-Brazilian friend. People find it cute and unique, started asking if ever they are selling those. They got the idea of actually selling their work in trade fairs and bazaars and it turned out great. From then on, they developed their work and produced several other product-line like hand-made t-shirt paintings and jewelries, souvenir and gift items, invitation cards for all occasions, business card designs, puppets / mascots, costumes and masks. Their products spread throughout Negros, and even in other countries like Switzerland, Germany, Australia and Canada. Gaining much experience in entrepreneurship, they decided to formally register their small business on June 2012. And started to put up a community-based group, trained a pool of young artist who in return begin making their own artworks and started selling them during special occasions like Masskara Festival and Christmas season. Became one of the many privileged Bacolod producers to display their products in The Bacolod Showroom which gained access to much more clients. The ART continues as they welcome a new field in their business as online graphic artists, where clients are mostly based on another countries. They now cater to clients who wants to have their company LOGO and BRAND IDENTITY, like brochures, business card and packaging design.
