In honoring the artistic excellence and acclaiming the uniqueness and diversity of Filipino heritage and culture, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) spearheaded the celebration of National Arts Month (NAM) 2024 this February, bannering the theme "Ani ng Sining, Bayang Malikhain."
On February 27, 2024, students and faculty from NEUST-CIT Drafting commemorated the annual arts month celebration, embracing a myriad of colors, art, love, and diversity under the theme 'GUNITA' (Guhit, Pinta, Indak, Tula, at Kanta): "Hearts, Taught the Arts of Love, Equality, and Diversity," held at the NEUST General Tinio Campus, CIT New and Old Building. A warm welcome message was delivered by Marcelo B. Bulalayao, MAT, Dean of NEUST College of Industrial Technology (CIT), alongside Marites A. Cumbe, EdD, Area Chair (Drafting), and Walter Salva from NEUST GAD, who delivered an inspiring address.
As the event unfolded, the excitement grew as the contest officially began, marked by the presentation of contest categories, guidelines, and showcasing of different talents. The contest schedule was divided into two parts: the AM session featuring Performing Arts such as Dancing, Singing, and Spoken Poetry Competition, and the PM session highlighting Visual Arts, including Henna Design Tattoo Competition and the Chalk Art Competition that participated by the NEUST CIT Drafting students.
Meanwhile, the talented band 'KLASIKO,' composed of students from CIT Electronics and other majors, took the stage, serenading the audience with their performance as the visual arts competition began.
As the day went forward, participants who poured their artistic hearts and enthusiasm bagged awards in the much-anticipated awarding ceremony, with the board of jury including Likha Novo Ecijano's founder, Ivy Miranda, and Likha Novo Ecijano's Liaison and Logistic Officer, Atty. Cristina C. Mendoza and Gunita's Project Director behind the successful event, Patrick Neil M. Santiago, Ph.D.
Gratitude abounds for the passionate engagement of the students and the dedication of all the individuals involved in the planning, ex*****on, and commitment that brought this event to life. Your collective efforts and contributions have made this celebration of arts and culture possible. We appreciate your support and the hard work you’ve poured into until the last minute of this meaningful event where we look back together at the past while we navigate and share our own different stories on different mediums.
