Step into the creative journey of our third-year Product Design student, Kenai Shaneeza Maneja, as they unfold their creative process—from early ideas and explorations to the final stitch, form, and finish.

Among the five modes of rebuilding that shape 𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔, their work embody TUKOD — where rebuilding begins by creating structure and support for ideas to take form. Through foundations both visible and unseen, TUKOD becomes a way of shaping spaces where possibilities can grow and take shape.

Among the five modes of rebuilding that shape 𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔, their work embodies PATONG, where rebuilding takes shape through layers of ideas, memories, and forms carried forward through time. Through what is gathered and built upon, PATONG reminds us that design does not begin from emptiness, but from what continues to remain and evolve.

Among the five modes of rebuilding that shape 𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔, their work embodies SURSI, where rebuilding happens through repair and reworking. Rather than hiding imperfections, SURSI sees value in what has been altered, mended, and reshaped, allowing disruption to become part of the story that gives a form new life.

The 𝐔𝐏 𝐂𝐞𝐛𝐮 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 is pleased to announce the schedule of the Final Defense for the Product Design Thesis projects for Academic Year 2025–2026, to be held on May 25–27, 2026 at FabLab UP Cebu.

This year’s thesis projects examine the intersections of design and urbanity, exploring how designers can contribute to the development of more sustainable, inclusive, and responsive urban environments.

Developed in collaboration with partner communities and industry stakeholders, the individual thesis projects emerged from three design studios: 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲, which explores design in relation to culture, heritage, and place; 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠, which focuses on human-centered approaches to care, social connection, and quality of life; and 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, which investigates ecological responsibility through materials, systems, and ethical production. Collectively, these works demonstrate the potential of design to critically engage with and help reshape contemporary urban landscapes.

The faculty of the Design Program and the design studio advisers extend their heartfelt gratitude to our industry and community partners who have generously accepted the invitation to serve as panel reviewers for this year’s thesis defense presentations.

The thesis presentations are open to the public. We warmly invite students, creatives, industry practitioners, and community partners to join us for three days of presentations and dialogue as we celebrate the culminating projects of our graduating Product Design students.
