In the 1950's,there was only one person in all of Manila that artists could go to for custom made frames, for frames that highlighted their precious works:Boanerges Garcia, a former architect and art director of Phil. Following the artist's specifications,he designed, crafted and made custom frames for his contemporaries. Building frames also built friendship between Boanerges and the emerging crop
of modern artists. To better serve his clientele,he established Royal Art Frames in 1957. Artist who had him mount and frame their works are a virtual who's who of the 1950's art scene with names like Arturo Luz,Fernando Zobel,Zablan Custodio among others. In the 1960's, Royal Art Frames was developed and expanded by his son Ben. The "Art Boom" in the late 60's and 70's created a strong demand among collectors, quality custom made frames. Like his father, Ben also established deep friendship with the artists, educated by them to understand and appreciate art thus becoming an art collector himself. Today, the third generation of the Garcia family has established Frameline and Art Gallery,a unique online frameshop and art gallery where you can view and purchase fine Philippine contemporary artworks as well as order picture frames for your personal or business needs.
