STORY TIME
Back in August, when I was just starting my crafting and printing business, I honestly had no idea where to start. 😂
Ang dami kong gustong gawin—planners, bookmarks, notepads, personalized stuff—but I didn’t know which one to try first.
At that time, I had just bought my printer, a cheap laminator, and a guillotine paper cutter. Yun na ang buong starting kit ko. 😂
Then October was coming, Teachers’ Day/Week was approaching, and I thought, “Okay, let’s start with something.”
I really wanted to learn how to make notepads, but I didn’t take any courses or crash courses. Gusto ko lang talaga siyang subukan and figure it out along the way.
So I messaged my friend, Teacher Carla, and asked, “Can I borrow your name? I need it for a project.” 😂
I didn’t even tell her exactly what I was going to make. I just needed someone to make something for because, somehow, having a name and a purpose gave me a direction.
She said yes.
And that’s how I started making notepads using her name and image.
One design became another, and another… hanggang sa ang dami ko nang nagawa for her. 😂
Those were my first attempts, so obviously, they looked like they were made by a beginner. 😂 But because of those projects, I got to practice. I learned how to design, print, cut, laminate, bind, and just figure things out along the way.
I kept posting what I was making, and eventually, I started getting a few orders. Nothing big, but enough to give me experience and confidence to keep going.
Then this week, I finally gave Teacher Carla the notepads that had been sitting on my rack for the longest time. 😂
She messaged me saying she was grateful and that they were beautiful. Then she said, “Magpa-order ka na!” 😂❤️
The funny thing is, I had already started getting orders even before she said that. 😅
So, Teacher Carla, thank you for letting me borrow your name and image and for unknowingly helping me take that first step.
Looking back, I’m really glad I started this way.
Those first notepads may not have been perfect, but they helped me learn, practice, improve—and most importantly, start.
And to think… this all started with me asking, “Can I borrow your name?” 😂
Happy Teacher's Day, Teacher Carla 🥰
