Laguna Lake is central to the conversation on flood resilience.

As Metro Manila and surrounding provinces continue to face flooding, we must look beyond individual flood-control projects and understand how our entire water system works together.

As Ar. Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr. puts it, “Laguna Lake is like a toilet without a flush.”

What would it take to give our region a more effective way to manage water?

Planning for resilience means thinking beyond today—and designing for the next 25, 50, and 100 years.

Planning for floods means planning for the future.

First conceived in the 1970s by Arch. Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr., the Parañaque Spillway was envisioned as a 10.5-kilometer underground tunnel to provide excess water from Laguna de Bay with a direct outlet to Manila Bay.

Decades later, the proposal remains a powerful example of long-term, forward-thinking flood resilience—addressing the root causes of flooding and protecting vulnerable communities.

At PALAFOX, we believe the best solutions look beyond today and plan for generations to come.

Can we really blame climate change for our disasters?

In his latest The Manila Times article, Arch. Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr. challenges us to look beyond the immediate causes of flooding and other disasters—and confront the role of planning, preparedness, governance, and our choices as a society.

From the proposed Parañaque Spillway to sustainable transportation and renewable energy, the article asks an important question: Are we planning for the next election—or for the next generation?

As communities face worsening risks from flooding, landslides, water scarcity, and other hazards, can better planning help prevent disasters before they happen?

At the next Kapihan sa Manila Hotel, the discussion will examine how local governments can rethink land use, infrastructure, housing, zoning, and urban renewal to build safer, more resilient cities and towns.

The Foundation for Liberty and Prosperity, in cooperation with the Supreme Court of the Philippines and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, will establish the Museum for Liberty and Prosperity. It aims to instill in Filipinos a deep appreciation for liberty and prosperity and their essential interdependence under the rule of law.

The Museum will be built on a corner commercial lot in Alabang Global City, Las Piñas, donated by developer State Properties Corporation. It is being designed by Architect Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr., with experiential identity design by Amsterdam-based global design studio Tellart, curatorial design by Andre Magpantay, and robotic prototype design by Dr. John Anthony Jose and the SupervAIse team from DLSU.

The Museum will feature cutting-edge, interactive, and immersive exhibitions that harness advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence-powered installations and robots depicting distinguished figures in the fields of justice, economics, and civic leadership.

Thank you, The Manila Times for inviting Arch. Felino “Jun” Palafox, Jr. to be part of the distinguished panel of judges for The Manila Times Model Cities & Municipalities 2026.

Held yesterday at The Manila Hotel, the deliberation brought together the panel to evaluate the achievements and initiatives of 40 cities and 25 municipalities across 15 categories: recognizing local governments that demonstrate excellence, innovation, sustainability, and a strong commitment to improving the lives of their communities.

Initiatives such as this matter for PALAFOX since the quality of our cities and municipalities ultimately shapes the quality of life of our people. Recognizing and sharing exemplary local practices helps inspire other communities to raise the standard of governance, planning, and development.

We are honored to contribute to this meaningful initiative and to celebrate the LGUs working toward more sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and future-ready communities.

The awardees will be recognized on September 24, 2026, at The Manila Hotel.

The Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) could reshape how the Philippines grows in the coming decades.

In his latest Manila Times column, Arch. Felino “Jun” Palafox Jr. looks at the Luzon Economic Corridor and its potential to connect Subic, Clark, Metro Manila, Batangas, and the communities in between—creating new opportunities for investment, jobs, connectivity, and regional development.

But how do we ensure this growth translates into end-to-end prosperity for generations to come?

Read Arch. Palafox’s latest article in The Manila Times and explore the planning behind one of the Philippines’ most important development opportunities:

ALL eyes are now on the Philippines this week as over 600 investors have arrived to scout opportunities at the Luzon Economic Corridor Investment Forum.
