🎥 : Get a profound glimpse into the enduring artistry and resilience of Sama-Bajau Weavers of Sitio Teheman, Maluso, Basilan by watching our new documentary!🌿✨

In partnership with Claret Samal Foundation Inc, we recently inaugurated the Sama-Bajau Weaving and Cultural Center in Sitio Teheman, Maluso, Basilan. This dedicated community space is designed to empower Sama-Bajau women weavers, strengthen sustainable livelihoods, and safeguard the community’s rich cultural heritage.

Families in Sitio Teheman have long grappled with poverty, scarce resources, and few market avenues, prompting the center's creation. Weaving forms the core of Sama-Bajau identity and tradition, but without adequate infrastructure or reliable earnings streams, its promise remained untapped. The center now meets these challenges head-on with specialized areas for weaving, product innovation, displays, and sales. Its souvenir shop and gallery highlight time-honored skills, and the dedicated workspace allows weavers to craft premium handmade items like mats, hats, pouches, and bags, opening doors to steady family income.

Our video installation, produced by Game Night Production Co., led by Lawrence Agustin, enriches the storytelling and context with a detailed exploration of tepo's complex, hands-on creation. Sponsored by Yellow Boat of Hope USA, it chronicles every step, from gathering and prepping pandan leaves through boiling, sun-drying, natural dyeing, and meticulous hand-weaving. Viewers gain insight into the weavers' specialized expertise, unwavering patience, and ingrained mastery, shining a light on the hidden efforts that elevate the artistic and cultural significance of each unique creation.

A profound thank you to Yellow Boat of Hope USA for generously sponsoring this essential video, bringing global visibility to these remarkable weavers and amplifying their stories of empowerment and cultural preservation. Your support truly bridges communities and fuels lasting change. ! ⛵

Special shoutout to Game Night Production and Co. for masterfully weaving stories of the women weavers, their meticulous process, and how the new center will transform their futures in this documentary.
