🌳 When Old Trees Fall, A Part of Us Falls With Them 🌳
They stood before our footsteps,
rooted in time, reaching for the sky.
Silent guardians of our streets,
breathing life so we could live.
Along the Quirino area, old trees—witnesses to decades of history—are being cut down. These are not just trees. They are living treasures that have shaded our walks, cooled our streets, protected us from floods, and quietly cleaned the air we breathe.
🌿 Why losing these trees hurts us all:
Increased heat and harsher urban temperatures
Poorer air quality and higher health risks
Greater flooding due to loss of natural water absorption
Loss of habitat for birds and other urban wildlife
Erasing a piece of our city’s natural heritage
🌱 What these trees have given us:
Natural air filters that protect our lungs
Shade that eases the heat of concrete roads
Strong roots that help prevent flooding
Beauty, calm, and a reminder that nature still lives among us
If trees could speak,
they would ask for time, not silence.
They would ask us to remember
that progress does not have to mean destruction.
Now is the time for us to step up. Let us raise our voices—peacefully and responsibly—to protect what remains. Let us call for solutions that balance development and environmental care.
We do this not only for ourselves, but for future generations who deserve to inherit green streets, clean air, and living reminders of how nature and people can coexist.
🌳 Protect our trees. Protect our future. 🌳
