Still can't believe this happened ✨️🌈πŸͺ‘🧡

Our small community of slow stitchers made islands for Ged Merino's The Journey is Home at Art Fair PH, then stitched them on site.

Every island is made with love and filled with stories of what home is for us.

Working on this project reminded us why we started with Hiwaga Hands --- we just want to facilitate safe spaces where people can connect with their true creative selves + make things with their hands together with a supportive community. Somehow, our little works ended up in our own little corner in a big, big art space.

So grateful we get to do what we do and have the chance to show our work (not just the actual end product, but the process and intent behind it).

Thank you for giving us space at

Special thanks to the places and people who made space for making the islands

This was such a meaningful project for all of us, and we're excited to share more stories about the project soon.

Mending clothes is not just a practical skill. It can be

😌 a mindfulness practice
🌈 creative expression
πŸ™Œ an act of resistance against consumerism and fast fashion
πŸͺ‘ a way to connect with your self and community

Throughout the many visible mending sessions we've hosted in the past 2 years, we have repaired not just clothes, but hearts and minds too. Our messy tables and tangled threads have held too many stories, laughter, sometimes tears.

We're happy that we get to keep on doing that.

Kicked off 2026 with our annual tradition βœ¨οΈπŸŒˆπŸ§ΆπŸŽ¨πŸ–

Story time: In January 2024, and .sarreal hosted a creative potluck, and because of that, Hiwaga Hands came to life.

The idea is simple: "Come as you are. Create as we can be."

Everyone brings materials, stories, and food to share. Then, we create postcards around our word for the year.

Our community has grown since then, but we always go back to this tradition to ground us and remind us why we do what we do. Hands that make are hands that heal... and so a community that makes together, heals together!

Towards success
Enough audacity
Flow, resonate courage
Connect, move
Thrive, illuminate self expression
Growth

And it's a wrap for 2025 workshops!

We had a blast at Thrift Fest '25 --- we almost forgot to take photos!

It really warms our souls to see more people embrace slow fashion and discover their own creative power.

AI can never replicate what it's like to create something with our hands. Slowly, and with intention. Through this craft that we love, we managed to make so many meaningful connections and build a community ✨️✨️✨️

We are manifesting more creative spaces and explorations for 2026, and we can't wait to keep making with you all!

Super cozy workshop yesterday at

We love it when participants lock in and start making their little projects.

"This is therapeutic"
"This is so forgiving"
"We've never been this relaxed in a long time"

These are just some of the words we've heard from our participants in the almost 2 years of facilitating slow stitching and mending workshops.

We believe that making with our hands can be truly healing, and that everyone is creative when given a safe space to learn.
