🌿✨ Why Rosemary Often Struggles and How to Keep It Healthy ✨🌿
1️⃣ Too Much Moisture
Rosemary comes from dry Mediterranean regions and cannot tolerate compact or constantly wet soil.
When water stays around the roots, they start to rot, and the plant gradually turns brown.
Solution: choose a deep pot with large drainage holes, add a layer of gravel or clay pebbles, and use a light mix with plenty of sand or fine grit.
2️⃣ Overwatering
Rosemary prefers dry conditions and is far more sensitive to excess water than to drought.
Water only when the top layer of soil is completely dry.
Test the soil with your finger at 2–3 cm depth.
During winter, reduce watering significantly.
3️⃣ Poor Light Conditions
This plant needs full sun, good airflow, and a dry environment.
Low light, humidity, or stagnant air weaken its growth.
Best placement: outdoors in warm months, and near a bright window during winter.
4️⃣ Lack of Pruning
Without regular trimming, rosemary becomes woody and produces weak shoots.
Prune lightly in spring and harvest young tips throughout the year.
Avoid cutting into very old wood.
5️⃣ Simple Recovery Method
If some green stems are still present, the plant can recover.
Repot into a deep container with a well-draining soil mix.
Remove dark or damaged roots and replant gently.
Water once after repotting, then let the soil dry completely before watering again.
Place the plant in a bright and airy spot.
🌿 With good drainage, moderate watering, plenty of sunlight, and proper airflow, rosemary stays strong, aromatic, and long-lasting.
