Gundaway
Ilocano for favorable opportunity, Gundaway captures the tension between loss and becoming. Oriented in motion, a red box surges forward — alive, urgent — leaving streaks of itself behind. These marks are remnants: parts we shed to grow. The foreground stretches from deep blue-teal to neon green, mirroring the emotional arc from uncertainty to clarity. Hollowed shapes offer vulnerability, while soft green beads scatter across the space — a quiet celebration of courage. In landscape, the work reads as journey: not ascent, but passage. Gundaway is that moment between what was and what will be — when we choose to move.

My art entry included in the GSIS 2025 catalog as a participant. It may not be a winning piece, but it’s a rewarding milestone — my biggest canvas so far, my first time joining a national art competition, and even a few candid moments captured along the way.

A first, but definitely not the last. Looking forward to many more. 🎨
