We have all experienced the draw of the ocean. It comes in waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, sometimes itโs overwhelming. Its peace and tranquility, its extreme turbulence and its tides---- ocean indeed is a perfect metaphor for LIFE.
Life is always changing, ever-evolving. It has its high and low moments. We have times of great achievement and times of great failure. The question is, how do you react to the lowest low tide times in your life? Do you let them defeat you or do you fight back and strive for the high tide moments?
When thereโs an intense situation, feeling or experience occurs we have two choices. We can choose to accept or โbe withโโ the experience or we can choose to โpush awayโ from the experience by distracting ourselves or simply denying the experience isnโt happening.
A wave has the potential to knock a person down and sweep him into deep, troublesome waters. But as any surfer knows, a wave can also lift a person up and bring the surfer to the shore. Surfers donโt fear large powerful waves. The bigger the better! The greater the wave, the higher the lift, the more magnificent the ride, and the closer they will come to shore. Just like our journey to a healthier lifestyle, things will happen that set us on our heels and make us want to give up, but don't let them. We can be like the ocean wave always leaping back up after falling. We have the strength to reclaim all our achievements and happiness. Be strong and courageous and we can rise again like the ocean tide and the ocean waves.
