“Letting me know what's real from what is not
What I've got is more that I'd ever hoped for
And a lot of what I hope for is thanks to you”
-Thanks to you, Tyler Collins

Last May 14th, we gathered for a celebration at Paterno Extension, Tacloban City as Interior Design students class of 2025 officially conducted the turnover of Project Sirong — marking the rebirth of our Women and Children's Shelter.

The day was filled with laughter, inspiration, and heartfelt connections, as community members came together to witness the power of resilience.

From emotional speeches to joyful moments, each photo captures the spirit of hope that unites us. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us on this beautiful journey!

Let’s continue to shine brightly together! 🌟💖

When life hands you blank canvases, it gives you the chance to create a masterpiece.

On May 10, Art Jam transformed Sheku Cafe into a vibrant celebration of creativity and community, where every brushstroke, performance, and shared moment fueled our mission to make art meaningful for a cause. 🧡

“Just like it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to save a single life.” - Oh Ae Sun, When Life Gives You Tangerines (2025).

The importance of collective effort and community support in both nurturing and protecting individuals echoes the idea that a single person cannot do it alone. It recognizes that human lives are deeply interconnected, and that by working together, we can achieve far more than we could individually in addressing complex social challenges and supporting each other's growth and well-being.

In a world where healing begins with a safe environment, the Bachelor of Science in Interior Design Class of 2025 is stepping up to make a difference—carrying the torch where design has the power to change lives. Through their ID 426: Special Project course, these passionate students are spearheading Project Sirong, a heartfelt fundraiser aimed at redesigning the Women and Children's Shelter in Paterno Extension, Tacloban City.

This shelter serves as a safe haven for individuals who have endured unimaginable hardships, walking through a dimly-lit tunnel in search of refuge, healing, and hope. Its current state calls for urgent improvement to create an environment that fosters healing, comfort, and empowerment—an environment these survivors deserve. This effort goes beyond mere aesthetics; each design element is thoughtfully planned to uplift the spirits of its residents and is grounded in research-based Trauma-Informed Design principles.

The fundraising initiative aims to reimagine the shelter. With noble intentions, we strive to turn this vision into reality—crafting a place where walls are not used for seclusion but reflect brighter tomorrows; rooms that don’t just house but offer the warmth of a home; and corners that remind residents they are valued. We are calling on the community to join us in this noble cause. Donations will directly fund the redesign efforts for the shelter.

Every donation counts in bringing this plan to life. Whether big or small, your generosity can be that vital drop completing an ocean of compassion. By contributing to this cause, you are not only supporting the shelter’s physical transformation but also giving its beneficiaries a chance to mend their broken pieces—a mirror reflecting the belief that there is beauty in being broken and strength in healing.

This is your opportunity to be part of something truly meaningful—a brushstroke painting hope and a foundation building strength. Every act of kindness brings us closer to providing a safe and inspiring space for those who need it most.
