“why do you work so hard to regulate your nervous system?”
because i got tired of living in survival mode
tired of overthinking everything, reacting in ways that didn’t feel like me
holding tension in a body that couldn’t rest, even when nothing was wrong
so i chose a different way
slowing down, breathing deeper, moving with intention, not pressure. not to perform, but to listen and care for this vessel that holds my spirit 🌱
some days it looks like a workout, some days it’s lying on my mat and finally allowing what i used to avoid
i’m not always calm
but i stay, i listen, i ground 🌳
i let the feelings move through me without turning them into reaction 🫶🏻
and slowly, the body softens and it begins to trust again
as it remembers what safety feels like ❤️
soft, steady, and at home within myself
---
here are some ways i come back to myself
-slow, intentional yoga 🌿
-walking under the sun, no distractions ☀️
-breathing with my hand over my heart 🤍
-moving in ways that nourish, not punish my body ✨
-sitting in stillness, even when it’s uncomfortable 🌙
-writing what i don’t say out loud (i use pen and paper or my ipad notes) 📝
-meeting my shadows with honesty, not shame 🪞
-noticing my triggers and gently asking where they come from 🌊
-giving space to the parts of me that learned to protect me, while slowly allowing myself to feel what’s underneath 🌱
-placing my hand on my body and staying there 🤲🏻
-softening my jaw, my shoulders, my belly 💫
-letting sensations be felt instead of avoided
coming back to my breath, again and again 🌬️
simple things, done with presence
and somehow, they bring me back to life 🤍
