Determined hearts
We have seen so much beauty and made so many mistakes
We have climbed mountains of inspiration and dug deep pits of despair
We have lived a human life
We have had children, created the spark of new lives
We have planted our seeds deep in the earth
Given all we are and fed, guided and always strived
For those we love, our parents who gave us birth
As we grow old, our eyes have seen the darkness
Our hopes have soared, our painful tears have stung
Like whips and screams. Thunder to shake our dreams
We cried as newborn babes, such songs we have sung
What shall we whisper into the future of human beings?
Each day we ask the question "is this the last"?
What more must we face, to achieve this task?
We are Soka, we do not retreat. We are humanity
Our Gakkai you shall see. Our aims are arrows flying free
Determined hearts reach above our sorrows
High above the heads of expectation and hope
Into the sky where all are exhausted and fall
Birds too long from the nest, fly home to rest
We Buddhists will prevail
We will not fail
This test.
